So, I'm trying to start the game without Galaxy but nothing happens, tried the solution offered here "https://www.reddit.com/r/Xcom/comments/449ijq/vcomp120dll_is_missing_anyone_else_having_this/czoki1y/"
but no go... so what's up GOG? I see this issue is quite prevalent but hasn't been addressed yet

Works for me but I had no Galaxy installed
Try reinstall from offline installer w/o galaxy around?

What worked for me was setting a new environment variable in Windows with the name "OPENSSL_ia32cap" and value "~0x20000000"

Basically newer generation processors might be too "overpowered" for some applications. Adding this variable resolves this by improving auto-detection for applications.

When launched via GOG GALAXY, GOG GALAXY will compensate for this automatically.
