There is only one version sold on GOG and it includes all languages. Switching to German language will get you a censored version (only that one was made in German), playing in any other language - will get you an uncut one.

Just tested it to see which version we get but i knew GOG doesnt do different versions. Just saw a hakenkreuz in a dead nazi so yes, we finally get the new law going into effect on GOG.

Sucked that it took that long, movies for some reason were always made in the most nazi symbol filled way.

Thanks for the clarification from me, too. I understand that it would not be economical to create an all-new German version at this stage, but permitting me to play the English original is perfectly acceptable to me.

It's not a new law, the law hasn't changed on this issue. What has changed is that - FINALLY - someone tried to overcome the precedent of a blatant miscarriage of justice (a long time ago [i think the 1990s] a court completely ignored a key part of the law, see below). And they succeeded. Naturally, it wasn't one of the large game companies, one of whom has just proven conclusively what they think about democracy vs dictatorship (looking at you Blizzard/Activision).

Specifically, that court had ignored subsection 3 of section 86 of the German criminal code: https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/englisch_stgb/englisch_stgb.html#p0917
"(3) Subsection (1) does not apply if the propaganda material or the act serves civic information, to prevent unconstitutional activities, to promote the arts or science, research or teaching, reporting about current or historical events, or similar purposes."

man, hats off to you, god bless you.

as a jew & native american & English hybrid, i am a defiant one, and I always love to see how law is used to usurp law, such an exercise in futility.

keep up reading, your doing great.

I bought it myself as well.

thanks for sharing that, i really do appreciate it, and I agree with you 100% as well.

things will never ever change when we sweep things under the rug and act as though it never existed, only acknowledgement changes things.

So basically they didnt think of games as art or culture.

Nope, for some reason, movies are fine no matter the violence but games, OMG, there was a shooting, quick blame games!

It was the same with movies when they were new and getting big. Video Games are just the newest medium in line for the blame game. In the 90s swedish politicians even blamed a Table Top RPG named "Kult" for making people dangerous, murderous Psychos.

Sorry for the late reply, this got buried in my open tabs. Well, I'm not sure. Maybe the court did not make that determination and simply failed to pay attention to the subsection I quoted. It's hard to imagine such a massive error, but judges are no gods. But in any case: the net result is the same.

Irrespective of that there were certainly some jurists who felt that computer games are not art in the sense of §86 (or, for that matter, in any sense), but that argument is imho blatantly preposterous, certainly by now.
