So I opened the crypt by clicking the statue, went down a stairs, and a second door opened as I approached it. But then a third door refuses to open. I've tried clicking on everything that looks like it might be a hidden switch. The torches, the skull, whatever. Nothing.

I gave up and started exploring other things, ran into the "Stout" guy who told me that the secret to getting in was to nudge the right statue, which I'd already figured out. He didn't say anything about a trick to the third door, and seemed to think I should find his brother without a problem. I went back to the crypt, wondering if now the door would open, or if the brother would be before that door, but nope. It was how it was before. No brother, stuck third door.

I notice that the second door (which automatically opened for me, and is now always open) makes a thumping sound whenever I pass it, as though it were trying to close (or open again, despite already being open). This makes me suspect that the doors are bugged, and the thing keeping the 2nd door from closing again is keeping the 3rd door from opening at all.

Help? From what I could gather from the original village elder's speech, the crypt is vital to advancing the main plot.

Before any troubleshooting:

Did you use the lever on the left wall? It's in the very, very dark patch on the middle of the wall. As if the devs tried to light up the switch area but put a dark patch on accident. If the lever, specifically, doesn't work, and the doors just aren't moving (the third should open, shutting the stair door, and a loading screen would follow), try the following:

1. Check for any animals jarring the doors, such as a roach.

2. Try going to inventory, facing the third door which should open, and rapidly click the in-inventory map button, or switch between tabs in inventory. This forces the game to move the time forward, even one frame at a time, if a 3D object is not moving...but also not stuck. (Although, even on a newer computer, I only had to do this in one underwater area. On an older one I did it in an area related with a sword. Both times were on CD version, patched.)

3. You might have to reset adventures the door is really bugged. This does allow for more experience and repeats to find things which may have been missed. Allows characters to re-incarnate with their abilities but not their levels. And can replace settings of quest items (if stolen or lost).

4. If you're still locked out, there are other options, but they are a bit last-resort...

Oh, I see! Looking at it now, I don't understand how I never noticed that lever. I was looking around the room and everything, and now that I know about the darkened lever, it looks relatively obvious. I must have been playing in the (RL) daytime before, when the sun makes it harder to see (in-game) dark areas. Thank you!
