Skirmish mode won't allow me to click the start button the moment i start adding units to a team.

same here, the only way to start a single palyer skirmish is empire vs empire, when you select another army it does not trigger the start

There should be a button under each player/AI that shows what army they are using. You can click on that for AI to select their army but it has to be filled randomly, by you or a built-in army loaded up.

Edit: Some maps are set to custom for gold per player, which makes them only playable in a multiplayer setting against human players since you can't select AI opponents.

Always worked for me. Haven't received any updates for the game since I got it when it released on GOG. Possible that it was a per-user problem where some experienced an issue and others didn't.

that is so trange and weird, i own mark of chaos for xbox from yeeeaaars, i know how to manage and create a skirmish game. I do believe that here there is a bug about skirmish hope this will be patched, it must be patched.

I was having the same problem as well, but suddenly it started working after I began a campaign. Now, I'm not sure if this had anything to do with it but if you're really out of options you can try starting a campaign first. You might have to restart the game after doing a campaign mission. (I remember it didn't work right after I did that but later when I went back on and tried again the skirmish mode was working perfectly.)

Again, I have no idea if this is what actually fixed the problem but, hey, now it's working for me and I thought my tuppence might be useful.

i set the AI up on a different team and gave them their generated army. i gave myself a generated army. but clicking play does not respond?

does anyone know if there is a mod to fix this?
i recall playing the game skrimish mode many years ago on a copy i no longer own.


i fiddled around with the settings, it seems if i dont generate armies some of the maps jsut let you play right away. very odd. but how does one decide the armies on each team then.
