I could have sworn the version of Warcraft 2 I played back in 2000 had rally points and build queues. Is the GoG version a old patch version or something? Also the options are lacking. I figured some quality of life improvements over the years would be added to the game. But it looks identical to the old days. What happened after all these years?

Indeed you are wrong Warcraft 2 never featured rally points or production queues.
Some private servers do feature mods but the official version is just the same it was in 2000 when bnet edition was released.

You can play it with us online every weekend.
I stream those games live on:

Queues are not in Warcraft series (Wc3 actually too it not real queue).
Settng menu available from pause menu during game play.

You probably did play in '00 Sega Saturn or Sony PS versions. They have features not implemented later to Bnet Edition backport and not even in Wc3.
Maybe even better to play single player...

You're right, I did play some console versions. I especially remember the PS1 version being odd. I don't recall details other than hating the pan speed being so different.

Are there any any indie remasters out there of this game similar to how a indie team completely recoded Roller Coaster tycoon 1 & 2? https://openrct2.org/ just in case. You need to have a copy of the game's original game and you use its assets for this to work. Was a great improvement and allowed for high screen sizes etc. Was really hoping something like this existed by now for WC2.
