The bug (of three Hunger segments in a row and telling Mia about a Callihan you never met) might be a chance encounter considering I eventually managed to avoid it. And yeah, it's worth finding a way around it just for the experience/plot.

My actions just in case it helps to know:
Was nice to Frank. Hired Frank. Was nice again. Through the heart. Fortituded and window. Chose the top dialogue option.
Brought to the art gallery. Said they. Saw book. Said the character was an okay choice.
Went to Anarch bar for 2nd time. Said I was told to ask about Mia. Fed (for the 2nd time there). Met Bruce. Said just business. Commanded to stop. Beat it out of him. Wrote "she". (he gave me her name and the game registered it anyway so ok)
Save & Exit (to title screen). Backup save directory (2 txt files 1 folder).
Started Somebody's Watching Me part III. Said I want to go on a real date.
iirc The Hunger happened and was suppressed.
Save & Exit (to title screen). Backup save directory (2 txt files 1 folder).
Get letter that initiates The Invitation. Meet "Mia?".


So my thought is that either certain dialogue decisions got me around it, feeding twice got me around it, or saving & exiting got me around it. I may have accidentally exited the entire game too, btw.

Just in case this is relevant: I also was in the process of creating backups of pre/post different segments starting all the way back from meeting Valerie and finishing Hope (Double Spiral). During which I completely closed the game multiple times. Oh, and I eventually turned off GOG's save sync.
