Hello everyone

I've been trying to get UFO: Aftershock to run on Mac OSX via Wineskin, but I keep getting the following error :

title: assert_fatal
ver: UFO: Aftershock v1.3 file:.\multimedia\SoundStream.cpp line:47
Invalid value

The version I have now is 1.3, an unnoficial patch, that I installed to try and solve this problem, as I've been getting the error in version 1.2 (the GOG.com version), and in version 1.2.1 (the latest official patch).

I should also state that UFO: Aftermath works great on Wineskin, and I'd assume UFO: Aftershock should work as well, being from the same company, and using the same engine, no?

Has anyone had success in playing this on a Mac?

Thanks

Maybe go in the option file to change the sound to software instead of hardware (if you were).

First of all, thanks for the help.

Any idea on how I can do that without running the game? Because the error occurs even before any intro movie.
Read what I had say.
The file (in Windows) is options.txt in \UFO Aftershock\Profiles\[name_of_your_profile]\ folder
Search in the middle for "sound" in "system" part:
STRUCT "system"
GKEY 2 "sound" BOOL TRUE
END_OF_STRUCT "system"
If it was FALSE, put it to TRUE.
If it was already TRUE, I can't help you more.

The thing is, I don't have an option file, because I never logged in to the game, because it crashes on startup. Guess I'll wait for the next WineSkin engine version to see if the game works then.

Thanks anyway for the help :)
Hey Pedro, i'm Guilherme :)

I've also wanted to play this same game on my Mac some time ago, when i bought it here.
Encountered the same issue, tried also on a Windows 7 machine.

I doesn't even start, it seems to be stuck at a pre launch compilation.
What i would to do is install on Windows, get it to work and then with profile and settings i can use copy the whole folder to the Mac or Linux one.( I'm about to try on Ubuntu too)

Later this evening I'll use a older WinXP machine that HAS to run the game without problems....
Try to run with --options nosound=TRUE
