I was wrong. The resolution problems alone prevent me from playing the game, and windowed mode is terrible. I honestly though GoG took old games and fixed them up to work well on current operating systems, yet I have the exact same problems with this version as I do my old boxed copy. Flickering, inverted colors, window placement in windowed mode, mouse displacement in windowed mode, etc.

This wasn't even worth buying :/

Game: TA:CP
OS: Windows 7 Pro x64
You talking about Kingdoms/Iron Plague? If so then I don't have any experience with that beyond playing the CD version, which worked fine for me in XP.

Nah, I started reading this forum and noticed that a ton of other people have the same problems, so I don't see how support would help me.

Did you try the suggestion posted in the thread immediately below this one?

Indeed, I was doing that before I started research (the exact same bug is found in Age of Empires 2), but that doesn't solve the other problems mentioned.

I'm honestly sad that GoG didn't actually fix the game up, it looks like all they did was apply a no-cd patch.

Well, a lot of old applications become "broken" when you use them with a significantly different OS from what they were written for. After all, TA was released in 1997, it's now 14 years old. I think GOG slapped on the Windows 7 compatibility label mistakenly on some titles before checking them.

I take it XP compatibility mode or using a virtual machine doesn't help?

Pretty sure that's what they did, yeah.

Xp compat doesn't do anything, and using a virtual machine defeats the point of buying a supposedly updated version of the game
I'm currently running this in Windows 7 x64 with 0 problems. I made no changes to any ini files or compatibility modes.

ditto no problems
Windows XP 32 bit, no problems works perfectly!
Just wanted to confirm that TA works fine on my Win7 64 bit system.

I hate it when people open threads complaining about GOG's work just because they are encountering some technical problems on their system (especially since GOG has done some amazing work making the music work). If it works for most other users then it's certainly not GOG's fault that you're encountering problems. Just ask if others are encountering the same problems and whether they know how to fix them.
