Hopefully it'll come to GOG as well when it fully releases.

Confirmed it should be coming to GOG baring any problems.

"Yes, thats the plan for all THQN releases unless there are specific reasons like a very complex online setup."

We had to long whine on devs (not the same) for GD being released at GOG.

Not really since that happened shortly after the game came out of early access on Steam.

Base GD released fully on Steam on 25th February 2016 and Medierra posted this regarding getting your GOG key if you wanted to switch over on the 22nd March 2016.

As if I didn't care about GD before its release,
and magically it goes on GOG despite it was not intended for long.

It was always intended that GD would be DRM free, that was stated in the Kickstarter. And according to the GOG store page it released on GOG the same day that Steam got it as a full release: 25th February 2016.

Nope, as it was intended at very first (beginning of developpment, i.e. 6 years before release??) to only be released on Steam, which is a drm (I know Windows is too a drm, but Steam is an added layer of drm: a true drm-free game would be on Linux sold by GOG or itchio, such as).

No, it wasn't. From the GD Kickstarter page

"Core features
We’ve listened to years of feedback from the Titan Quest community and continue to do so every day on the Grim Dawn forums as we strive to improve upon past performance and make this our greatest work yet. The creation of Grim Dawn is guided by traditional design and old school sensibilities, with innovation only in the areas where we feel it truly improves the game and isn't just a gimmicky back of the box feature.

Grim Dawn will:

Be DRM free!"

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/crateentertainment/grim-dawn

At the time they didn't know how they were going to do either initial early access or the DRM, but then Steam came up with its Green Light option so they went with that for early access. Then when they were ready to fully release the game they made it so people who'd bought before or during the KS and wanted to have a DRM copy could switch their copies from Steam to GOG; I did this with my copy.

That's what I say: At first, biginning of developpment, it was not intended to be released on GOG, only on Steam.
The devs said Steam was not a DRM to claim they sell drm-free game, but it was a lie, as all games on Steam are forcefully drmed by Steam itself, which controle the games.
All games on Steam add its drm, even if the game in itself had none drm: If you sell only on Steam (what it was intended for long before release), then your game is DRMed.
You did could have a GOG game because some such as me whined, as the devs intended to sell only on Steam.
It is DRMs which have paradoxally made the success of GOG: Those who don't want DRMs don't buy at Steam.

Sigh, no they did not. They never said Steam was DRM free; if they had why would they bother to make it so players who backed them before or during the KS could switch over to GOG?

Steam's Green Light enabled them to do an early access for the game which greatly helped the development of the game.

They made the game available on GOG on full release because a) they had promised DRM free and b) GOG obviously had no option to do something like early access back then. And, like it or not, Steam sells more copies of games than GOG does . While the KS provided the initial funds to hire more full time staff (there were only 2 when the KS was run and neither were taking salaries) it was the sales on Steam that allowed them to continue and expand on their original plan for the game which was a small 1 or 2 act game, not the 4 acts we ended up with.
devs confirmed on steam that it will be released on GOG.

I have no link, just have a look at the faq or steam discussion site.

there a dev said that all thq nordic games are released on GOG, including TQ2.
Amazon page is already up and the release date for Xbox and PS5 is December 31 2024.

Personally, I would take this date with a grain of salt. A lot of things can happen in 1 year.

That's just a placeholder date, means nothing as far as actual release dates go.
