I been wondering or not to purchase this game, I missed my chance to pick this up with the witcher 3 pre-order.
It a good board game, fun to play etc.

However it has two main problem:

1. The AI is extremely poor, in fact it so bad their is no point in playing an offline game.
2. It sometime very hard to find online players to play with, practically impossible if you want to play a long game with the maximum amount of players.

Actually you can play offline either as "hotseat" with human opponents or solitare with multiple characters under your own control. The AI is poor enough that you won't learn anything about good play from smacking it around, but it is "fun enough" as a game to enjoy vs the AI if you aim for "at least 75VP" from a 3 quest game, or "at least 100VP" from a 5 quest game rather than merely winning by finishing first, plus there is something gloriously absurd about just how atrocious the AI plays... it is *almost* fascinating, and can be surprisingly awkward to deal with as it enthusiastically racks up foul fates as often as it feasibly can.

More importantly, it's not a faithful adaptation of the physical board game. This digital version doesn't implement the physical version's rules correctly, even going so far as to change the game's mechanics (i.e., the Travel action), which makes the game a lot easier to win. There are so many issues with this digital version (which I brought to the developer's attention months ago) that have yet to be addressed. It hasn't been updated in a couple months, so don't be tempted by the 40%-off sale.

I doubt this version's rules and mechanics will ever match those of the physical version. If true, that would be a shame and a sham against those who were (rightly) expecting a digital version of the physical version.
