Was anyone able to transfer the save data from the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Game of the year edition (PS4) version to the The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete edition (PS5)????

I have tried uploading the SAVE to the PS Plus cloud but the 2 versions are incompatible.
I have linked my ps5 version to my GOG account via the QR code, claimed the Gifts but no saves are to be found anywhere.
I have tried to manually link my PSN account (which also uses the same email) on GOG Galaxy but there is no option available
I looked into the PS4 version of the game for any prompt/option etc. to upload the saves on GOG there is no option to be found.

The marketing clearly indicates that cross save between versions is possible, so where is it? Can anyone help?

First thing , you must update BOTH THE PS4 & PS5 builds of the game on your PS5 console. Let the PS5 upgrade finish fully downloading first, its alomost 80 plus gigs.

Highlight the Witcher 3 icon on the ps5 home menu, then hit the down button on D pad, next to PLAY GAME, select the DOT DOT DO button (...) , then select PS4 version.Afterwards the PS4 version icon will be on the home menu next to the PS5 icon. Geralt's face looks a bit different between the two. Highlight the PS4 icon, press start, and press "check for Update". Both the PS4 and the PS5 build of the game must be version 4.0 in order for the save transfer to work.

After both PS4 and PS5 witcher 3 complete are full updated to 4.0, then read the instructions below from @Olyvr on Twitter:

"You'll need the ps4 and ps5 updates to transfer files via "cross progression" if you want to transfer old saves or NG+. Start an old save on ps4,save; open ps5, load that save. You can tell the difference as old saves are version 1.6 and new, 4.0. #Witcher3:"

Basically Your old save data must be re-saved as a 4.0 save data for the transfer to work between the PS4 and 5 builds. Cross progression button is shown on the bottom of the PS4 save screen if you updated everything correctly. the thumbnail in the top right corner of the save data in the Witcher 3 save menu will show either "1.6" or 4.0". The Save file has to say 4.0 for this to work.

It actually worked for me after updating both games ps4 and ps5 versions. Something strange happened on ps4 version when I tried saving the game on manual slot (where you can see the new version v4) it actually deleted all the save slots. Only the auto-save remains. When enter PS5 version there was no option to load any saves but after claiming the reward (swords, armor set) given at the start of the game it changes the options automatically to continue from the ps4 version. Maybe worth mention that I have claimed the award in the ps4 version before downloading the ps5 version. Good news is that it worked for me so maybe will work for you guys as well.

Try checking explicitly for updates on the game:
1. Go to Library and highlight the game that you want to update.
2. Press the OPTIONS button and select Check for Update.
If an update is available, follow the instructions to install the update.

Unfortunatly, I cannot connect my GOG account to my Playstation account via the Galaxy software, the connection bugs out when the plugin tries to connect and login to PSN, so I am currently stuck and not able to transfer my save files.

I have tried two npsso methods and it still does not work. If anyone has a alternate solution, that would be great. I would prefer not to start over Witcher 3 if I can help it.
I have a standard/basic game (Region 3 /Asia) and it's stuck on version 1.62. There is no available update when i click "check for updates". Anyone have a same issue??

After creating a profile on gog using the ps4 version

START A NEW SAVE ON THE PS5 VERSION

This will unlock the load game option in the menu,
From here you can do the same as you did on the ps4 version
Press L2 scan the qr code blah blah blah

Hope this solves your issue, I was stuck for half hour until I figured this out.
Sorry for the caps just wanted it to be visable haha.

Tried several times, I believe they didn't push the 4.0 updates in Asian PS stores...
My PS4 ver. is stuck in 1.62 so I cant import my saves to PS5. Is there any walkaround here? I've reinstalled it like 3 times now and It's still downloading 1.62 and not the new one. I have the day 1 CD, it's not the GOTY ver or the complete edition but I dont know if it even matters.

There are folks on Twitter claiming you need the GOTY slash complete version of Witcher 3 to transfer the Ps4 save to PS5. If that is the case, you may need to purchase the GOTY edition. My recommendation is to locate a used physical copy of the PS4 Complete edition at a local game store or on ebay to save a bit of money, play and install the PS4 ver. of the GOTY edition so you can import your vanilla, original version save file to the GOTY version, and then follow the steps in my last post.

For reference, my physical copy is the PS4 Witcher 3 Complete edition. Got it working a bit ago, after someone said I do not need the gog galaxy software integration to connect the my console to my GOG account. I just needed to login via the QR code website link when I claim my rewards to sync them apparently.

I can confirm that saves CANNOT transfer from vanilla/base version to GOTY version as it's considered as different games.

Source: I bought the PS4 GOTY/Complete edition to test-out & my vanilla saves are incompatible. Note: The GOTY edition are version 4.0.

Additional note: Purchasing the digital "Complete Edition" simply gives you the PS5 Complete Edition & PS4 GOTY edition.
