Ok so I gott this game the 17 of May. Now soon a moth later I still cant gett the game to work.

I can start the game via the launcher so that isn't the big problem or atleast I don't know seance I havn't played the game, only started a new game to see if I could but I only watched the starting cutscene for 10 seconds.

No but this are my problems:

1: As I said I started the game to see if I could but I have no sound in my headphones. They are 7.1 suroundsound headphones (Logitech G35) but if I plug them out and use the speachers in my computer (It's an Laptop) that are 5.1 Dolby then I hear sound. I looked this up when I found this problem and what I found was more people saying that they didn't have ansound when they were using a 7.1 Headset but even if they had a 7.1 soundcard. So I think the game doesn't support 7.1 surondsound and I have no idea how the knowledge is around this or if it is trying to gett fixed.

Patch 1.1: No change.
Patch 1.2: Can't instal (Will gett to this)


2: Ok so this is the more bigger and weirder problem. I can't registrate the game, download DLC (But I have to have the game registrated for that I know) or instal the new 1.2 patch.

I believe thise 3 problems are all connected to one bigger problem witch I will gett to.

Here is the thing, I can't registrate the game seance when I am in the launcher I can't write stuff and see what I am writing. When I am in step 2 where I ithere created a new account or log in on an exicting I can't se what I am writing. I press the Letter keyes on my keyboard but no letters are getting written in the writing boxes but they are getting registrated when I am typing seance I could create an account and the 10 attemts there after I have bin able to log in to the same account. But I still can't see what I'm writing.

However when I gett to stage 3 where you are supposed to write your CD key it just wont work. I have tried it several times Without spaces, witch spaces and with "-" in between every column but it keeps saying that it is invailed. And do remember that I still don't see what I am writing so it is abit harder to try and write an 20 digit long CD-key without seing if I'm writing it correctly.

Patch 1.1 did not fix any of this and I have reinstaled the game 5 times and no change what so ever.

Now regarding patch 1.2. I just downloaded it via the launcher so that worked good but now I see in the bottom that it says: "Patch 1.2 is ready to be installed_" and to the left of that is an blue picture with what looks like an CD with an arrow on it. I can't do anything from this point, I have restartedthe launcher twice and restarted my computer once but it still hasn't installed and I have tried pressing the blue picture with an white CD in it but nothing. If that one is supposed to be an button then it doesn't work for me. First of all that button and the message, "Patch 1.2 is ready to be installed_", is blended into the bottom text of the launcher where is says: *Registrate to download a new adventure titled "Troll Trouble"... The Blue button is untop of the first 2 rows in the begining so I only se "Reg" in "Registrate".


Now my conclusion is this that ither the Witcher 2 isn't fully compatible with Windows 7 64 bit or just not the launcher. But that does seame abit unthinkable that it wouldn't be. So my second guess is that isn't fully compatable with any ASUS Drives that exists.

I have an ASUS G73S, there republic of gaming laptop, and I believe that ASUS as any other computer company has there own drives for some things and it is abit more logical that the game isn't fully compatible with those drives.


Now I'd like to state 2 things here in the end.

First of all, I don't have that highe of an knowledge with computers that I would want so I don't know where I can't find the list of all the drives I have installed to make this abit easier to understand me. I know there is som sort of application you fint by writing somthing in the finder in the start menu but I don't remeber what it is.

Secondly I hope that anyone trying to read this understands what I'm trying to explain seance I know I'm terrable at explaining things and my English spelling might be abit bad aswell. I have planned on getting Fraps or somthing and Record every thing how it looks from installing the game to the end result that I have now if this attempt doesn't work.


I hope that someone could help me regarding this seance I still havn't started playing the game and I am realy realy eager to play it and it is realy sad that I can't seance I have payed for it and everything.

If anyone know anything about this and could help then please do and if It would help if I posted a list of my drives then I will try to find out how I find them again.

Quit the launcher, go to your C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Witcher 2\Downloads folder and run the patcher_1.2.exe (in admin-mode, so right-click->run as admin).
This should install patch 1.2 including all the DLCs so far and fixing G35.

You don't need to register or activate anything, anymore. The game is completely DRM-free since 1.1.

But what is the deal with DLC. I read on the community page at Witchers website that dowloading content is unvailable at the moment but is all the DLC so far already installed? Like The Troll Trouble DLC?

Yes, all available DLC is included in Patch 1.2

Ok, I just tried to install the preorder thing I gott "Ultimate Swordman" via there communty post but when I try to install the Patch is says that I don't have "enough privledges to patch the game".

I read the instruction given by the E-mail I gott with the download link and it says that the game has to be patchet to 1.1 in order for the installation to work. I guess now since I have 1.2 I can't install it anymore or is there somthing wrong?

If not then I hope they will fixe so that it will work for 1.2 soon aswell :)

They're all already included in 1.2

Ok I just read the Change log for Patch 1.2. It incrudes the Pre order stuff aswell :D!!!

I am having the same problem with 1.2 "game is incomplete or version incompatible". I had the same error with the 1.01, but solved it by running it from the downloads folder in the Witcher 2 folder in My Documents. 1.2 doesn''t run and gives me the above error wherever I run it from.

I have so much grief with this game with anything outside of the game itself. I have to run it one resolution higher than my desktop, which no other game has forced me too, and I have had problems installing both patches, when I have never had problems with patches before!

I am loathe to uninstall/reinstall the game, as I have a working game!

I have a retail UK version of the game, and would go to the official Witcher 2 support forums, if they had any, so once again all the technology outside of the game is giving me grief!

Lots of posts about this... Ensure you actually have 1.1 installed before doing 1.2. Many who had mods or other DLC's found they had to remove them first. I didn't.

Read through. You'll find an answer, even if it means having to re-install.

I solved the 1.2 download by deleting the troll.dlc in the cookedpc folder. Have no idea why that dlc was causing the problem with the 1.1 and 1.2 patches on my PC!
