Hello,

I have started to play Witcher 2 on Linux (Ubuntu 64bit) and I just got into the prologue quest "To the Temple". Once I finish the quest where I help the civilians from being slaughtered I continue down the road and right when I get to the spot where a group of soldiers are fighting each other, the game crashes. Each and every time at that spot. Even if I stand still and watch.

Now I read that turning down settings will fix this, but I made my game on its lowest settings and it did not help. It keeps crashes. Any suggestions? The game is pretty much unplayable now.

Thank you!

I've got quite a view crashes in that quest but not at that exact spot. For me reloading a previous save worked after a few times. I still get random crashes but the game is playable - with a lot of quicksaving.

I hope you get your way around that bug. The story is worth it. ;-)

System Specs:
Distro: Kubuntu 15.04 64bit
Kernel: Linux 3.19.0-28
CPU: i5-4460
GPU: AMD R9 380
GPU-driver: fglrx 15.20.2
RAM: 16GB
Same thing happens to me on Mint in the Kayran nest. Then again, most of the time it just crashes randomly after 1-2 minutes of play.
The only way I got around the issue is to play beyond the point in a Windows install. Obviously not a solution at all, especially for those who do not own Windows or wish to avoid it...

I tried redownloading and reinstalling, but that doesn't help. A shame, really. :(

@property_live

That was among some of the things I tried. Unfortunately, it did not help.

Hello,
i have Linux Mint 17 an similar PC but my GraphicCard is a Nvidia Geforce 8800 with many quicksave it is playable but is crash too. I have copy the Rootdirectory from Witcher2 of my extern HDD and it was i little bit better. My speculation Witcher 2 under Linux is very instabil.
I installed using steam linux. I remember I installed when it first came to linux. After I started a new game I would a black screen and sometimes I would see Gerald but it was really buggy. I was so frustrated I uninstalled and didnt touch the game untill now I am currently playing on Win8.1 transfered my game to gog and experience is good now. I am using AMD Gaming Evolved app to configure for hardware and its does a better job giving performance then the laucher.

Hello,
I am at the Endscreen of Act 1 by leaving Flotsam. In The Scene of the Boat my Witcher 2 installed Crashs. Iam very frustrated.

Edit: It is a good idea to public the md5sum of the file. Then we can check the file of errors after downloading.

Hey Guys,
i solved my problem after Act One with crash from Witcher2. After many time with install a new Linux-System and copy the file of another harddrive. i see that md5sum everytime different from the original file. The reason was my RAM is broken. After remove the RAM from my Motherboard witcher 2 running good.
