So I've got my saves in the right folder (Documents/The Witcher/saves) on Windows 7 and it's not reading them at all. I've got all kinds of saves, some before the ice plains, a bunch on the ice plains, some immediately after in the cloister, and it isn't seeing any of them. I'm in the right spot and the saves are in the right location so any other ideas on what could be causing this?
I've got the same problem. Got the first one from Steam, does that change anything?
Incidentally if it matters my version of the first game is the retail version from before the Enhanced Edition (EE patch and all that is applied however).
Same problem here... tried 3 different versions. Friends are all here trying to play too. doesn't matter where we put the files, it doesn't see them.. :(
I have the same problem. My old saves from the Witcher are in the default Documents/The Witcher/saves folder. Running 64-bit Windows 7. Bought The Witcher EE on Steam and The Witcher 2 here on GOG. Not happy about the fact that, unlike just about every other game that lets you import saves, you can't tell the game where to look.
same problem here. witcher EE on steam, save files in Documents/The Witcher/Saves. running windows 7 64x
Having the EE on Steam didn't change anything for me. It still created the Mydoc/Witcher file. Are you sure you guys have saved after all the crucial points in the game? You need to be at the end of Chapter V or in the epilogue for all your decisions to register.
I'm running x64 Win 7 as well, I am pretty sure at this point that it's an OS problem, most of the people having it seem to be running this OS. That doesn't get me any closer to fixing it unfortunately.
Not OS. I am running W7 64 bit and my save imported fine.

Well I mean in the "everyone having the problem has this OS, but not everyone who has this OS is having the problem" sense.
For me the working save was the autosave immediately after defeating the grandmaster (or at least i think it's an autosave), after which point dandelion comes to talk to you and you can recover two quest items from the grandmasters body. Hope this helps

oh and the save was created a while back when i had retail EE 1.5 installed, now it's the GOG version.
the problem is the save you have must be made when you got to the frozen part. the last auto-save tho is always at the door before it
No, that isn't the problem, I have about 5 saves during the frozen part, 1 right at the beginning immediately after porting there, 1 right at the end before the final showdown with the grand master, and several at various points in between. None of them are working, nor are saves in the cloister after the final showdown, nor are saves right before being teleported to the ice plains. I have saves coming out my ears and none of them work regardless of in game location.

have you tried right after you enter?
I too concur, I have save games all over creation.. as I'm a "saver paranoid"... and nothing imports.. it doesn't even give me an option to select anything, just comes up automatically and says "no save games to import"...
