Because no Fantasy RPG is perfect without Dragons ;)

And i am talking about the 4 limbed ones with Wings on its back no Wyverns.
Possibly Seska would make an appearance (that is, if you didn't kill her at the end of the 2nd game)
It may have.

In "the witcher" lore, dragons are scarce and witchers are scarce. The chance they cross paths by chance is low and witchers don't hunt dragons 'cos they are sentient beens.

So, may be TW3 will have some dragons in it. But don't expect a dragons open season.

What you can expect is a lot of fantastics beast to track and hunt down.

Dragons are not things Geralt would hunt. He does know two Dragons ~ Saesenthessis and Villentretenmerth, who are both 'Gold' dragons ~ though Saesenthessis is only "half" Gold, as his step daughter.

There are other creatures that are 'dragonlike' and non-sentient, that Geralt will willingly hunt:

Dracolizards (oszluzgs)
Flying Drakes ~ a flying reptile of similar appearance to Fleders
Forktail (looks like a traditional dragon, but smaller and non-sentient)
Ornitodracon (like a feathered Forktail)
Slyzard (large dragon like flying lizard with venomous tail spikes (Letho, Serrit and Aukes were rescued from one by Geralt while he was previously pursuing the Wild Hunt).
Wyvern (Two legged large reptile heavier but similar to a Dracolizard)
It was a BFD that there was one in Witcher 2, so I would say probably not.

Dragons are starting to be a tad overdone these days, imo. What's going to happen is that soon all fantasy games will feature cookie-cutter "dragons, orcs, and goblins," etc. I'd rather see original thinking and stories, frankly. I have to say that one of the things I most enjoy when I play my heavily modded Skyrim is shooting at dragons in flight with exploding/fire arrows...;) Then bringing them down and fighting them on the ground. But even too much of that gets tedious after awhile. Sometimes in a decent game, just the mention of a dragon somewhere close but never near is enough dragon for me...;)

Sorry Dragons are too cool not to have.

If you want Originality play Morrowind, Planescape, or Ultima 8.

Heck Play WOW in Kalimdor. The continant has unqiue settings not often seen in Fantasy.
Dragons as an adversary for Geralt is just something that is barely within the possibilities. He will not kill sentient beings who are causing no direct threat (rather than acting in self defence).

In the Assassin of Kings you were attacked by a possessed dragon under the control of external agencies, and were made to fight it, but it was outside the normal interaction Geralt would normally have with a 'wild' dragon. See his relationship to Villentretenmerth and the unnamed Green Dragon in the literature.

The other "Dragon like" reptiles are more than enough to have a 'dragon fix' without needing to go outside of the Lore in a Skyrim-esque mockery.
