Hey, first of all I just want to say GREAT game CD Project! This is without a doubt the best RPG game that I've ever played, aside from Mass Effect, I simply like that better because it's Sci-Fi. And I'm way into Sci-Fi, hehe. But way to fucking go! (Yes I need to swear) Keep it up!

So my question is, as the topic name suggests. What is the name of the song that plays in the very first intro video of the Witcher 2? It's not the main menu music, it's when you press new game and it shows some skies, and a text explaining what has happened comes up. A woman sings. Does anyone have any info on who that is? Or what the song is called? Since it's not in the soundtrack that I got in my digital edition.

I'd really appreciate any info as I find it to be tremendously beautiful, the song, that is, hehe.
Thank you.

Yes, it sounds good as well. But I'm looking for the song that I mentioned specifically. I was like ".......WoW" when the intro started, I didn't even read the text the first 5 seconds.

I do very much yes. I collect Imperial Guard and Tau, hehe.

Anyway, I can definately hear that they sound alike, so it is probably, like you say, slavic folk music. But do you know the exact song from the intro? I really liked it with the music that was in the backgorund, etc.

You know, it actually sounds a bit like finnish, though most likely it's not. But I can definately "hear" finnish words here and there :)

It is Finnish, and the original song is a mix of Finnish and Swedish ;)
The original song is called Vargtimmen and is made by Hedningarna

It's from a Swedish band called Hedningarna.

There are two different songs - the one from the Launch trailer (http://www.gametrailers.com/video/disdain-the-witcher/713989) and the one from the in-game intro (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7oXRzxrpwo).

The first one is indeed Vargtimmen by Hedningarna, but the second is a different song (or at least a highly modified version). I'm listening now to the band's other songs to try and find the one from intro, but no luck yet.
@Civerneix
No it isn't ... !
The song you've posted is from the launch trailer of the game. The song mentioned by the op and by me is from the actual ingame intro of the game.

See the YT-link i've posted and compare these two, they are different.

EDIT: Myshovoore was faster ... ^^

I could understand some of the lyrics so I found this. Others would be able to give more information about the origin of the song, but it is definitely slavic folklore.

This is indeed the song from the in-game intro.

It is performed by Polish folk/rock/metal band "Żywiołak", but the song itself is not Polish. Based on the cyryllic in title and the description of another such song from the same album (http://www.zywiolak.webd.pl/eng/lyrics.html), I think it's from Ukraine.

Edit: This being an Ukrainian folk song was confirmed by a few reviews of the album - e.g. http://pepe.blox.pl/2009/03/Praslowianskie-legendy-i-zywioly.html (review is in Polish).
