Due to circumstances beyond their control the polish based developer is announcing a full recall of their latest product The Witcher 2.

All customers may return their product for a full refund(payable in Orens) at their local supplier.

Their sister company GOG has also issued bankruptcy procedings due to their high server cost catering to the whiny, childish rants of disgruntled console hating but gamepad loving customers.

More noise to follow(patch1.1) on the Internet:

This just in.... Yet another yank mistakes smart-assed dickery for humour.

FYI... there's NO REASON to play this game with mouse and keyboard.. it wasn't built for it and is actually far more comfortable with the gamepad.

All you are doing with m/kb is replicating button pushes.. there's no reason for fast, pin point accuracy, you're not selecting part or parts of the screen, you don't have to move from one end of the screen to the other quickly, you're not trying to find things on screen that are only highlighted on mouse over and since everything is centered around the third person perspective axis, where you move and the direction you look is is where you aim. So if you are using the mouse and keybard for this game all you are doing is adding another hurdle to the gameplay..... and in all honesty, another hurdle is the last thing this game needs.

I wish it wasn't, but in hackandslash games like this, the gamepad is the superior control method.. SO WHEN THEY BREAK THE METHOD IT WAS DESIGNED TO BE PLAYED WITH, people are naturally, and quite rightly going to get pissed.

CDP.. FIX THE GODDAMNED CONTROLLER.

Its embarrassing to answer this but the game was released firstly for PC and the "no reason" to play with a kb/mouse is an assanine comment.. The game is enjoyable for keyboard/mouse and lesser for gamepad players but the commotion is the short sightedness of the devs to implement the gamepad option! Thusly the Brouhaha and (not to you)humorous posting also exposes your national prejudices!! Yanks prevail!!

PC Gamers traditionally opt to use keyboard & mouse controls. So I kindly suggest you shut the fuck up.

Kind regards
The keyboard and mouse controls are great. I tried a controller and that feels good though, but honestly I prefer M and keyboard, I am more reactive with my fingers ;)
Do not own/use gamepad myself. I found the "button mashes" (for lack of a better word) to be more than adequate on keyboard and mouse.

I mean really, if you consider this a hack&slash game ----> DOOR

Somebody pass the popcorn, please?
Doesnt matter what works the best for anyone here, both options were supported at release. Says so on the box. The patch broke something for gamepads, so they should fix that. all anyone is asking. I hope =D

... and then you wonder why you lost the war...
There IS a reason for playing this game with a mouse and keyboard. That's what PCs come with.

I don't really understand what is your agenda, angle, point, whathaveyou... but the logic is very, very simple:

PC comes with keyboard and mouse.
Game is "made for PC"
Game control should be optimized for keyboard and mouse and not crippled by the "optimization" of game control and interface to use with a gamepad.

If a developer decides to make a console game optimized for mouse and keyboard, what would you say? That people should stop complaining and go out and buy M+KB adapters, or wonder why in the world the developer did such a thing? Obviously, there is a very small percentage of people who play console games with the adapters, but the overwhelming majority of console players use a game pad. Same why the overwhelming majority of PC players use M+KB.

... as simple as that.

AND (edit to add)

it is not only that using a controller with 10 buttons and 1-2analog joysticks is less effective as a control device as compared to using 100+ keys on a keyboard + 4-8 mouse buttons + optical cursor, but more importantly how the interface of the game has been crippled and made extremely cumbersome because the "optimization" of the interface for a control the overwhelming majority of PC players don't use. This is PAINFULLY obvious when you compare the user interface in Witcher 1 vis a vis Witcher 2.

Bullshit.
