I have a very annyoing problem which will probably make me stop playing this game before it even started really (only a few hours in).
I got the enhanced edition from GOG. Everytime I want to load a save game, I'm stuck at the loading screen. I see my hard drive LED flashing for a short time, then nothing happens. Longest time I waited was about 15 minutes probably.
The only solution I have found so far after googling around quite a bit is to tab out of the game, then tab back in. I sometimes have to do this several times, and then all of a sudden, the save loads and I'm back in the game.
I think this is totally unacceptable (especially for an "enhanced edition"). Is there any way to fix this?

How many saved games do you have? I found that if you have too many saved games, the game takes a while to load. The same happened to me with the first Witcher. So, what i'm suggesting is to remove all the saves from the save game folder*** but leave the most recent - that is, the last one that you actually want to load to continue - and see if it makes any difference. Of course you don't have to delete all the previous saves, just move them somewhere else.. Hope it helps!

*** You'll find all your saved games in the following directory: "[your user name]/Documents/Witcher 2/gamesaves."

Thanks for your answer. I tried that and deleted most of my saves, keeping only a handful. Unfortunately, that did not help at all. Still stuck at the loading screen whenever I load a save. :(

Do you have the latest version of the game? (if you downloaded it recently then you have it)
Does it happen with every saved game you try to load?
Do you experience the same "bug" even if you start a new game, make a save and the load it? (I'm thinking about the possibility of a corrupted saved game, although never happened to me...)
A basic question: Does your PC have the power to handle the game?

Maybe you should contact support after all! No reason to quit this fine game

Yep, I have the latest version (3.4.0).
It does happen with every saved game, no matter if it's autosave, quicksave or normal save.
It didn't happen at first, but the problem started appearing pretty soon (maybe two or three hours into the game). I now have it every single time I load (quick load, normal load, doesn't matter).
My PC is more than fit to handle the game. Once I'm in the game, it runs flawlessly with highest settings.

Yeah, might have a go at contacting support. Thanks again. :)
I found a solution to my problem now and thought I might as well share it, maybe it will be of help to someone. My desktop refresh rate is always set to 50Hz because my monitor produces a better image that way. I have no idea why that would cause Witcher 2 to have problems loading saves, but if I set my refresh rate to 60Hz before launching the game, the problem seems to be solved completely. Played for some hours, saving and loading frequently, and everything's fine. A soon as I switch back to 50Hz, the problem resurfaces immediately. A workaround I can live with, though I think this should be fixed (without having high hopes). ;)
