How do you regain a silver sword after loosing it when you chase off the dragon in the prologue?
When you start Flotsam there is a chest right after you get off the boat that contains the crafting instructions for a witchers silver sword. You can then go to the dwarven craftsman in flotsam non human district and get the sword made.

The Dwarf smitty also has some crafting instrutions for even better silver swords.

Or you can simply purchase the silver plated sword the dwarf has for sale if you don't have the ingredients
In my game Geralt lost the sword in the cutscene. Then had it again when played started. Might be because I imported my W1 save and have the moon blade. I would be pisses if I lost that so early.

Yes, if you have another silver sword from a previous playthough he uses the normal silver sword. I wish the game gave you six talent points for started a game with a previous save.

That would be a huge boost at level one! The weapons and armor that import are better than what you have starting out normally, but not so much better that they would break the game. Six talent points would, in my opinion, overpower you really early.

It would allow you to finish the Witcher Training section, and since you brought in a save from the first game it makes sense. I was mainly just a little annoyed that he couldn't parry arrows any more when I had that at about the middle of the first game.
LOL I just saw my iphone autocorrected pissed to pisses. :)

I would have liked some extra points even if they were forced into each of the training points. I guess when a save editor arrives I can add them if I really want.

LMAO... I only noticed the "typo" (damned autotext crap) after you pointed it out... I actually read that as "pissed".... amazing how the brain makes you see what you expected to see :)

I really hate predictive text. Like when you type "Go on bro, kick his arse" and it changes "kick" to "lick"........

Yeah, I did that, Then got the ingredients and Crafting stuff. I think what I crafted was the Rogue Witcher's Silver sword, but not sure if that is the correct name.

Unfortunately, my last play through was on my XP desktop. I had a partial in Vista on here, but had only gotten to Chapter IV ( I installed 2 in Windows 7 on here ). I think I may have cleaned out some files as I was carrying the standard Witcher's Steel and Witchers Silver. I'm pretty sure I picked up at least one better steel sword before that as in the Wyvern Contract where was a sword laying on the ground, then one after that somewhere. I knwo in Chapter IV, you can get a better Silver sword from the Lady of The Lake, if you make the right moves .

U can also do the side quest "Nekker contract" and as a reward u will get a diagram for "witcher's superb silver sword" it has much more higher stats than the one u lose. Try that quest cause the reward is definitly worth it.
