How do you save the trolls? I found one in chapter 2 but he tried attacking me...

I suggest an online petition and a parade of Troll Extinction Awareness.

Other than that just beat him up a little, he'll give up. He may be a troll, but he's a clever troll.

One of the trolls in Chapter 2 will attack you immediately, the only thing you can do is kill him. Later on in the chapter you'll meet a few more trolls who are a bit friendlier.
