OK guys please help . I have played with the settings over and over and just can't get the right mouse to click fast enough to lift the gate in act. 1 . Thinking it was my mouse I got a Xbox controller with no luck. Can I use some tweeks to make the X button work faster?

It's the left mouse you have to click, not the right.

If I remember correctly, only rare cases are actually related to being too slow. Mostly it's performance/latency/responsiveness related - lowering the screen resolution for that particular sequence might be helpful.
At least that's what it was like in 1.0/1.1... I don't know if anything changed since then.

What was true then is still true today, sadly.

But yeah, it might be related to the fact that OP seems to be clicking the right-mouse instead of the left.

I think the OP might be playing with his monitor turned upside-down - how else could one mistake left from right in such a manner?

Dyslexia, alcohol, or a combination of the two :)

Speaking of alcohol, once the forums are up we should all get drunk and see how far we can make it into W2 on Insane difficulty without dying. Oooh, that would be fun.
