I am trying to play witcher 2 on my Macbook pro but wasn't sure if the installer on the webpage supports the new OS X. Do any of you guys know?

Yes, it runs on Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10.1). At first there were some issues but they were patched meanwhile, see here:
