I believe I have run into a game breaker, hopefully someone can help confirm.

I am currently in Vergen, having followed Iorveth's path.
I am on the 'Hunting Magic' quest which, incidentally is not in the game guide. I have aquired the Magic artifact from the tower (though I don't remember doing so) and have now to talk to Philippa.
I also have aquired Triss's Bandana from the troll and now must talk to Philippa.
Out of the four ingredients I am t fetch I have the Dun Banner Standard and that is all.

Problem I have run into is that Philippa's guards still won't let me in to see her.
Thus there are three quests that require I talk to Philippa and I cannot!

Any confirm and help would be greatly appreciated.

You are the wrong door. The guards are outside Saskia's house. Philippa has no guards.
Ahh! ok I am a complete t**l!
Was confused by the location of the map marker as it is directly behind that door also...
Gads spent the last 2 hours trying to work out where she was. I just hadn't been up to that part of the town when she was in her quarters.

Thanks Taleroth

I did the same damned thing. I felt like a right git when I realized. I'm glad to know someone else did the same! Hahah.

Ah! Thanks. That's good information. But it also tells me it is yet another bug in the game because the quest icon and arrow leads me to Saskia's door.

Not everything is a bug. The quest indicator is leading you to Philippa, not her apartment. It just happens to be so that Saskia's house is pretty small, and Philippa has a bigger one right next to her house.

It seems no matter what thread I read, people are claiming things as bugs just because they don't get magical arrows in front of them pointing them to the right path.
I don't know if I can judge. I've answered the question twice today.

I may have made the mistake myself if I hadn't bumped into Philippa while going "ooh, what's over there?"

Sorry but the "magical arrows" are what make the game possible at all. We don't all have the time to search, and search, and search, and search...
And all that searching makes the game boring as hell. So, yes, we DO need magical arrows.

This statement makes me sad on so many levels.

No time to search? How on earth do you find the time to play then if you're time is so short? Besides, wouldn't it be common sense already that if you have to talk with the NPC in order for the story to continue, that you would be able to do so? Wouldn't common sense say that there must be another way to get there, even if you'd think it's the wrong house. I for one would turn either left or right and start looking for doors that do open, maybe they lead me to the right way...

There, there. You'll get over it. Say a little prayer to Melitele, she'll help you feel better.

He does have a point about the game becoming boring.

But how far do those "magic arrows" go? At what point do games become little more than "go up, then left to continue winning"? Exploration used to be a big part of games, but now everyone wants things spoon-fed to them.

Basically, my opinion is that if you can't spare five minutes to explore the environment without becoming bored, you clearly have far too busy and exciting a life to be playing such games.
