Since this is a new game and we've never had to really deal with patches in the past, how is patching going to be handled with a new release through GOG? My initial guess is we'd just use the patches provided on the Witcher site. Just want to see if we'll have a special version of the patch (for example, a number of companies had to make a standard patch, then a special one for their Direct2Drive customers in the past) or use a "common" patch for everyone.

That is assuming it will require patches. Not sure if anyone can confirm that at this point.
But if that's the case, I'm sure GOG will come out with an easy and convenient solution for us.
They seem to care for us you know ;)
I'm sure there will be some minor fixes. The original one had a few patches but those were more to add additional stuff which I'm hoping they'll do with this one, too. :)
It will likely be handled the same way they handle additional content on the games they already sell; when a patch is released, they'll announce it on the site and you can download it via your account page. Same thing for additional content/DLC... assuming the DLC is free DLC and not paid DLC.
hallo I want to inform you that the German version, shows a Error information
