Hello Witchers,

just trying to play this game for the first time, but want to make sure i'm running the latest version, which i believe is 3.1

How can I tell which version I have?

If I open the read me, the last entries are from April 17th.. but patch 3.1 was released may18th.

The launcher is not downloading any new patches, but i can't see where I can determine what version I have currently.

Any help much appreciated!

Huh, strange. My readme files say April 17th, too. Guess they didn't update it this time.

Anyway, I know I'm updated to 3.1 since I did it all manually, so go to your Witcher 2 folder in program files, then into the /bin subfolder, and hover your mouse over the witcher2.exe icon. It should pop up with a file version, and it should be 3.1.1.0 if you're updated all the way.

If it doesn't pop up for whatever reason, you can right click on it, go to properties, and then check the version tab for the number.
It would be great if GOG would update masted ISO image (the one we download) every time W2 got updated.

For some reason my launcher doesn't auto-update and I am still stuck with version 3.0. I downloaded the game via the GOG downloader a few days ago.

Have you tried downloading the patch manually?

Very odd. I wasn't even aware that this was updated again in May, and I started playing again a couple of days ago and no update. Today, it automatically updated. Strange.
Really, the last update is not important to those who started a new EE game. It fixes the bug in Act2 for those who used an earlier version save.

But, it is usually the best practice to be running the latest version anyway, which you can install manually by downloading from the Witcher site.

I suggest that the game be run from the executable, rather than the launcher, anyway.
*Grumbles*

For some reason my Djinni refuses to work with latest patch, 3.1.

Ideas?

Thanks fellas.
Ok, removed the entire Witcher 2, reinstall, patched to 3.1...
Now the Djinni says "not installed properly"???

Drats!
Anyone, please?

While that isn't a bad idea I think it would be better if they simply added the patch(s) to the download list of files for the game even if they add the patch to the main installer.

Especially if a game is huge like this, who would want to redownload the whole game just to get a 5MB patch.
I would... having a 100mBit line.

But back to my Djinni problem, please....

I have the opposite problem.. If i try to initialise my game, i get a message that says patch 3.1 is ready, and i don't need patch 3.1, so if i click no, my game refuses to initialise. I did download the big patch- the one that updated the game to the enhanced version, and the game played fine, was using an old save. Went fine until the start of act 3 when going through the battle field on Roach's path - then the game crashed.
Now it doesn't want to start at all- it seems to start, but i can't get focus on the game.

Uninstall the game (keep your saves), re-download from GOG and install the latest patch. Run the game from the executable, rather than the Launcher.

Ah, that seemed to do the trick, thanks! Bah. Now my weight cheat doesn't work anymore... :P
