It would be nice if we could share our experience about the graphics customization and its benefits in one thread, since restarting the darn game every time to see how much of a difference a certain setting makes is quite annoying. So feel free to share your experience.

Btw is there a way to show FPS in the game without using Fraps?

I quickly tried the game yesterday with the following hardware:

Q6600 @ 3Ghz
HD5770 512mb
6GB Ram

Settings:
1680x1050
All max, except: uber sampling, SSAO, VSync

The game was playable so far (I guess it was between 20-30fps), but I would like to get at least 5fps more in order for it to be more enjoyable. Any idea what I should lower first w/o losing too much quality?a

Q9550 @ 2.8ghz
GTX 560ti 1GB
8GB RAM

1680x1050, Ultra Setting with Ubersampling disabled

Runs buttery smooth with no hiccups or lag.

Try tweaking DOF. Might give you that extra 5 fps you are looking for. :)

Dear Friends

Intel i5-750 2.66GHz
ATI 5850 1GB
4GB RAM 1333MHz DDR3

1920x1080 fullscreen
V-Sync enabled, Direct3D Triple Buffering Enabled
Ultra High Details with ubersampling and SSAO disabled.
FPS 24-35

Try RadeonPro instead Fraps.

Sincerely
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 3,2 GHz
Nvidia GTX 560 Ti 1 GB
2 GB DDR2 800 MHz

1600x900 everything maxed out Ultra with Ubersampling disabled. Also everything maxed out in Nvidia control panel. No optimizations.

And in User.ini MeshDistanceScale=5. That enhance the geometry rendering.
I don't think this game has optimization problems...just keep the ubersampling off.
Phenom 4X 965 OC to 4.1
HD 6970
1920x1080

Alot of people complaining about the frame rates drops try to play around with the texture quality size, the higher the smoother.
Q9300 @ 3.00ghz
Gigabyte 560ti SOC edition (950mhz gpu , 4.58ghz ram)
8GB DDR2
1680x1050
win7/x64 pro

game runs at 27-34fps, no matter what setting, no matter what detail (no ubersampling ofcourse LOL)
tried 275.27 drivers without 3Dvision, nothing improved

Hmm, interesting. How did you find this tweak? Are there any other discovered .ini settings that are helpful?

http://www.gog.com/en/forum/the_witcher_2/in_game_textures_blurred_by_aggressive_mip_mapping

I've found it in *drive*:\Users\*user*\Documents\Witcher 2\Config

There's also a Rendering.ini file but I don't understand well what can you set there.
I tried to change MaxResidentMipMap=6 to see if this could resolve the blurred textures and simplified geometry (look at the grass, the geometry and the textures at La Valette for example) but I've only messed up the graphic with purple and blue polygons lol.

If someone discover any method to sharpen the textures and disable the geometry simplifier please tell me. : )
Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.53 GHz
4 GB DDR 2
9600M GT

1280x800, Low Setting - everything disabled.

<20 fps, not enjoyable. I don't think it's possible to run this game on my laptop.
Here's some great info from NeoGaf for optimizing the game:

Now I don't have the time to read all the 14 pages. Could you please tell if you want if there a way to sharpen the textures and disable the geometry (grass) simplifier in that thread?

I haven't waded through the whole thread yet either, but I believe any tips in the thread are updated to be included in the first post. So if it's not in the first post, I doubt it's there.
Is there anyway to disable the film grain effect? I've never liked it in any game its featured in. :/
