So annoyed that it didn't tell me before I purchased it. I thought I had nothing to worry about you know, not being in Australia and all.

Yeah, that's the biggest problem. If I had any warning whatsoever I wouldn't even care. I would've just cancelled my pre-order or switched my location to a proper one, but there was no warning, no confirmation, that's just shady business practice.
When it comes down to it, it is not worth getting worked up over. I mean, what was censored?

1 sex scene, witch was a side quest rewarded. Its not part of the main plot. and I am sure there are other sex scenes in there too, just not as rewards for doing something.

Summery of complaints: 'OH NO, A SEX SEEN IS TAKEN OUT FROM THE GAME!'

Yer, its bad it got censored, but you don't need to act like 12 year olds. leave that to the STEAM forum.

@Ausys: The problem is NOT what got censored, its that it got censored in the first place, so instead of complaining about it on here, write a letter to your local rep, both fed and state, that you want to see an R18+ so we don't have theses problems.

@NZ: You lot should just stop complaining. No law has been changed, and Aus in no way affected your copy. The PUBLISHERS chose to do it.

At any rate, if The Witcher 2 gets anything The Witcher EE, then CDPK will 'patch' the problem. So no big deal. :)
@Jagji56

The issue being is that GOG.com led NZ customers to believe they were buying the uncensored version. Even after contacting GOG sales to explain my situation (pre ordering the uncensored version, to discover after checkout I was sold the AU version) they offered the following response:

Hello,

Unfortunately CD Projekt RED had to release a slightly edited version of The Witcher 2. This is the case for every release of The Witcher 2 available in Australia.

Although our site no longer is using a Geo-Ip to determine user region because we’ve decided to trust our users and let them inform us as to the correct region for their purchase. In that case if in your account your country is set as New Zealand, or US, or any country you are now located there shouldn't be any censorship.

Regards
GOG.com Support

As with anything that gets censored, not only is it frustrating being told what I can and cant see in a form of entertainment media, it also makes me think what else may have been affected in the censoring process.

We the consumers are told one thing, but I can't help but wonder if theres more we wont see/experience in the game. Just as I prefer to watch a directors cut of a movie, Id prefer to play a game the way the creators intended.

That's the problem though. After the crap that they pulled, how could I trust them and believe that they only edited out one thing? How do I know that they are not just hiding the full extent of what was censored?
Maybe all our version are censored? Maybe TW2 was to awesome for the New World Order to handle and rests safely in a warehouse in Washington, lost among hundreds of boxes, forgotten and gathering dust as ages in a DRM and autopatch opressed world pass by...

mirumu: Why? I mean that seriously. As a consumer none of that is my problem. If some underlying issue is allowing the laws of one country to affect another completely unrelated one then clearly it needs to be fixed.
I agree completely, should have been clear that the NZ version was censored as well. GoG should refund those NZ customers who didn't know and weren't informed.

GoG's mishap was to misinform their clients, but they can't be held responsible for being legally obligated to sell a censored game.

I'm with you there. If I was Australian I'd just be writing another letter to my local MP rather than coming here to complain. In regard to any non-Australians who ended up with the AU version though I hope GoG will help them out.
I do hope those NZ clients can get their versions refunded so they can buy it again. GoG obviously disabled the IP geolocator on purpose so customers can get the uncensored version if they want to...

I doubt Steam or other vendors would ever have done the same!
No response from support 24 hours later. I expect they're going to keep ignoring New Zealand law and not offer me a refund despite the false advertising of the product.

Support is pretty well swamped at the moment. That said, NZ folks who didn't know they were getting a censored version of the game is on my list of topics to bring up in today's meeting.

Thanks for that.
For students from my country, studying abroad in Aus and NZ is all about surfing, sex and alcohol. So why this hypocrite cencorship? :P

Does the rest of the world get the 100% uncut, uncencored sexy version with all the violence and dark mood that the developer intended?

All versions get all the violence and dark mood.
'Censorship' in this case = one quest reward removed
fingers crossed something gets done :P
Wouldn't bother me so much, but its what they censored that annoys me.
I can legally go into town and pay for sex IRL, but because AUS doesn't like it ,we get this censored in game. and i'm in NZ.. but yeah , when the game comes out lets hope the fix patch comes out fast :P
