Hi,

I have been having load of problems installing Witcher 2 on Linux (specifically Mint 17.2). I have been able to get the game onto my machine, installed all the dependencies that are listed on the main page and when I run start.sh I get the welcome window open asking about settings and launching the game. The settings open fine, but when I click on the launch game it thinks for some time and then a window opens and immediatly closes. Launching start.sh from a terminal I get an error:

*** BREAKPAD CRASH ***
/home/samrtroad/GOG Games/The Witcher 2 Assassins Of Kings Enhanced Edition/game/CrashReporter.x86_64: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.20' not found (required by /home/samrtroad/GOG Games/The Witcher 2 Assassins Of Kings Enhanced Edition/game/CrashReporter.x86_64)

I have tried installing and looking for anything with GLIBC in it but nothing. I must have missed a dependency or something but I tried to reinstall the list on the Gog webpage and it says they are all up to date.

Don't know what else to do? I am only doing this as I have started to use linux on a low power machine for general stuff and a windows machine for more powerful games. Just would be nice to have a good game on the linux machine so I don't have to boot up windows!

Hello, when you install the game, it runs a lenghty post-install script (takes about 10mins). While it may appear so, the error is not related to your libraries. You can try the below 2 options.

a) Reinstall the game from scratch (and make yourself a coffee till it's done).

Or

b) Try your chances by opening a terminal in the "Witcher 2/game/cookedpc' folder and run the following 2 commands:

1) cat pack0.dzip.split* > pack0.dzip (this takes a while, so wait till it's done before running the next command).
2) rm pack0.dzip.split*

The post-installation script normally runs the above 2 commands by itself, but you're not the first person that got this error. Let me know how it goes. :-)
