Team,

I'm in Flotsam doing the Kayran quest.

When I first visited Loredo's Mansion (with Vernon Roche) I didn't get the Iron Frame component for the Kayran trap.

When I returned I got access to the back of Loredo's estate but could not find the frame anywhere.

Have I missed my only chance during the first night-time visit?
Or, have I just missed the whereabouts of the frame.

Thanks
I think you lost your chance to get it. I had the same thing. I got "caught sneaking" and figured maybe i should get caught and let it be and didn't find the frame.

So after a reload and sneaking properly, the frame is indeed there during that time.

Bit silly imho, but i must say, the trap isn't crucial and definitely won't make the Kayran fight any easier. It might save you a few seconds , once .

The frame is in a little back section of the yard. You have to hop over a wall to get to it. Or I think you can go through a door. Anyways, its in its own little back section. if its not there, then I guess you missed your chance. Reload old save?

I think he knows where it is, problem is, you seemingly can only get it in a specific "time" . If you miss getting it while sneaking past guards, it's no longer there later.
While on the subject what exactly is the trap supposed to do? I used it but it didn't really seem to affect the kayran.
Thanks guys...I'm miles past that point now so will just press on without the trap

During the fight there's these yellow-glowy spikey things in the ground. If you have a trap you can place it there [you will get a interact option when you get near it] .

Once placed and if a tentacle slams down on it, it will instantly severe the tentacle. So you don't need to cut the tentacle off . So it helps to get 1 tentacle out of the way quickly, but the rest you will have to take out the standard way.

yea as far as i can tell the trap is completely useless anyway, i tried using it during the fight and it did absolutely nothing.

I don't think the trap works if you just place it down on the ground randomly (like normal traps) , it has to be placed at the indicators (the yellow spikey things) . i.e. if you press "R" to place your trap then it most likely won't do anything. If you receive a dialog option where you have to press L-mouse to place the trap then it will work and will take out 1 tentacle.
i placed it on the yellow marker several times and it didn't work for me
I thought I had missed too, but I do have an iron frame in my inventory. I picked up everything I could find back there including in that little space. I din't notice any specfic time frame as i went around and stunned every guard back there and had a lot of time to look around.
the traps pretty useless anyway so its no big loss.
That happened to me, too. I got "caught sneaking".

I can't do the Kayran quest, I'm stuck, maybe it's a bug. After talking to Loredo, it says go to the tavern and ask around in there. When I enter the tavern, nothing happens. I tried talking to everyone.

What do I miss? What should be done to proceed?
The trap is not really needed to kill the Kayran. In the fight, just place yerden near the trap indicator. Only difference between kayran trap and yerden is, you have to hit the infected tentacles after its trapped by yerden. Whereas the kayran trap pierces the tentacles and you dont need to hit it. Its not a big issue though.
This is the most frustrating boss battle ever.
