Hi guys,

I've just finished my second playthrough and this time I went with Iorveth. After playing both paths I gotta say that Iorveth's choice is WAY better than Roche's. The one thing that stood out for me was all the major characters and plot points were fleshed out more. By the time I arrived at Loc Muinne, most of the major pieces of the puzzle were already in place so I didn't really need a lenghty explanation from Triss or Letho. Furthermore, I've always see Geralt as one who would side with the underdogs.

Best parts:
- revelation of Saskia as the dragon. (I killed her in Roche's path since I never knew it was her)
- introduction to major character & bitch Phillipa Eilhart and watching her performing the best part of magic.. lesbomancy. there's even an homage to Pulp Fiction! :D
- watching Geralt's face as Shilard showed him the Triss figurine. priceless! (he had been carrying her all that time)
- watching said figurine turn back into Triss
- hanging out with Dandelion, Zoltan and the dwarves in Vergen. bros 4 life!
- defending Vergen. I had assumed Vergen would always fall

Surprisingly, I don't care much about Iorveth himself. But he sure knows how to make an entrance with them archers! :D
For me Roche path -more global - political
Iorveth path more personal, what i missed there explanation what happend to Roche and Blue Stripes with Henselt plot and Foltest children never mentioned by anyone in Loch Muinne
Thanks for the heads up i am still on my way through Roche's path, i am still hunting the chicks for the sexual encounters not sure if there is an achievment for bagging all the babes but then who cares am i right? I will be sure to rerun the game and i only chose Roche's path this time because he was easier to find, and i had been sniffing around Ves like a mongrel who sniffs the bitch in heat.

Honestly, I can't agree more. I've also played through both choices and after doing Iorveth's, I just can't bring myself to choose Roche's path on my next playthroughs.
If nothing else, i prefer Iorveth's path because of the Troll family quest :)
kinda sad. makes me think that cdp focused on the nonhuman path, and treated the human path as an afterthought.

so much for no 'right' choice, and everything being shades of great... clearly cdp intended a very biased path for this game, favouring one path over the other - treating one path is correct and 'good' while the other was not, unlike the first game.... just another reason this game - although its very good - is definately inferior to the brilliant first game.

I hate the scoia'tael, would never help them, but for free Vergen i take iroveth's path regardless :)

same... i dont mind the nonhumans fighting for freedom or peace, but the scoiatael fight for revenge and to inflict pain and suffering... since when did fighting for terrorists become an admirable, noble and preferable cause?

not that i like the racist humans any more than the squirrels.

i walk the neutral path as much as possible, and side with whichever side is more noble than the other on a case-by-case basis (ie siding with roche, but taking down a certain fat barbaric human in chapter 1 ;)
I enjoyed both paths. Can't say I prefer one over the other. Great stuff, story-wise in both.

Roche's path gives so much less xp though...bummers.

aside from the awesome Blue Stripes and securing Redania as the powerhouse in the Northern KIngdom, I see little else of worth if you side with Roche.

Although it was worth it to see how Roche finished off Dethmold! :D

I don't really fancy girls with tattoos but as far as Chapter 2 love scene goes, the one with Ves was the best of all three!

And with fraps i'm able to enjoy the scene over.. and over.. and.. brb.

It would be unfair to say the least, to claim that Roche's path was an 'afterthought', just because you don't get to defend Vergen. Every path has its own merits. While I also prefer Iorveth's path purely because of slightly more sidequests (and on that front I would agree that the paths are not completely balanced), it always bugged me that I never really learned any details about the other kingslayers, whether they succeeded or not and generally what happened to them. Sabrina's involvement was also a bit generic plus you don't really get to learn a lot of stuff about Letho and Sile's role, not to mention Roche's conspiracy. All in all, different parts of the story are best explained and understood on different paths. Other than that, it's mostly up to the player of whether he enjoys a more personal, "fight for the weak" story vs a more political one, so to speak.

speaking of politics, in my Roche's Path I helped Radovid gain the upper hand in the summit as Roche had killed Henselt and Radovid seemed like an okay guy and he's married to Adda.

But after watching what he did to Phillipa, i'm not so sure anymore.. :-S

Heh, I know exactly what you mean. I felt the same, when Roche did something well let's say way over the top to Dethmold and at that point, the event itself kinda caught me off guard. Definitely changed my view towards him.
Roche's path reveals more information about Letho. By the time I had gotten to the end, I couldn't fight him.

When I got to the same point in my Iorveth playthrough, I killed him without a second thought. It just wasn't the same level of attachment since my mind was focused more on Saskia and Phillipa than the 400 pounds of kingslayer standing in front of me.

Iorveth's path has more explanation and characterization for sure, but as far as the whole "kingslayer" storyline goes, Roche's path is superior.

To sum up: Roche's path to understand why the large angry man is, in fact, cuddly. Iorveth's path for drama and explanation.

i actually kinda felt bad about it, but i still chose to fight him, mainly because id just popped potions and didnt want to waste them ;)

also while i understood his motivations, i still couldnt abide by what he was doing to the country for what were essentially selfish goals.
