Well, in real life, plate armor essentially makes you immune to swords, except for stabbing attacks behind the elbows and knees. Folks at renaissance fairs and the like can do actual combat with actual razor-sharp swords in COMPLETE SAFETY because of this. Also, you can do cartwheels while wearing it.

In this case, realism is NOT FUN, especially since our leather-wearing hero is on the receiving end.

The joy of fantasy!
I love the combat and the difficulty. I did bump it down to easy to get the hang of it (back to normal now) but it's fast moving, dynamic, and brutal. Once I got the hang of the way combat works I found I could have the fights really flow amazingly well. It's tough and I die a lot more often than in a lot of other games but that's cool.
