I know this is a pretty stupid question, but how do I delete my unimportant save data??
I can't seem to delete them in-game..
And while I try to delete it manually from explorer, the ones that i DON'T delete won't load...
my save data already reaches 6 GB, I really need to delete most of it...

Or just go to your user documents and delete them manually

For me the path in Windows 7 is:
C:\Users\Fawzi\Documents\Witcher 2\gamesaves
Go to the save folder in my document and highlight all the saved below 10 or so, then hit the delete key on your keyboard. Works like magic!

OP said he can't load the remaining saves when he does that. I don't know why though. Doesn't make sense to me, nor have I experienced that when manually deleting saves like you suggest. Maybe he is deleting something he shouldn't be...In which case, he ought to get the utility to make sure he is going to the right spot.

Ah, I didn't put two and two together with "explorer." I haven't used Windows XP in so long I forgot about "Windows Explorer."

Anyway, that's a weird bug. I don't even think there is anything in that folder he could accidentally delete other than saves. OP, try onll deleting autosaves and quicksaves, that is what I ended up doing and it worked fine.
This.

What was the save system in TW1 like? I wonder because I've never played it and It's almost (almost) inexcusable that a game touted as being developed for the PC doesn't come with the ability to manage saves in-game - a huge oversight, to be honest.

Yeah, I pretty much have taken to Hard Saving liberally, then deleting all AutoSaves at the end of a play session. File has stayed managable for me that way.

Exactly the same, saves would build up and the "load game" menu would lag for minutes.

The author of the save game utility adapted his program so it also works for the first game.

Interesting.. did they not receive any kind of negative feedback regarding the save system in the first game? I would imagine they would have and that implementing a more robust system in-game would be relatively simple and thus fairly high priority - of course, I'm no programmer, but it's just a little weird to see a feature that is standard for pretty much every other PC game in existence neutered, resulting in people inadvertently amassing gigs upon gigs of saves and forcing them to navigate through a bunch of folders and subfolders in Windows Explorer just to delete saves they no longer need.

Good thing that utility exists.

You may be having that issue because you have to delete both the save file and it's corresponding .bmp file.

If you're using Windows Explorer, sort them by date, and just delete everything (or, move them to a temp folder) that is not needed. Just remember to delete all the "pairs".

The saves are in My Documents\witcher 2\gamesaves\.

You can quick save first - then you will for sure have the only save you want. Then go back and delete all other saves. They are autosaves created by the game.

Each save also has a screenshot of the game, so you can choose to delete what you dont want.
Thanks for the info guys!! :)
I'll try ALL of it 'till I find the best solution.
once again thanks :)
