So I have a 5870 and everything looks great on high settings 1920x1080 but everytime I go into the map or inventory or any screen that takes me off the actual game screen the fan on my graphics card spins down a bit. I'm thinking that can't be good for the card in the long run, so anyway to make it spin at a constant say 75% while I game?

You should be able to in CCC panel but maybe they did away with that in the latest update.

Try finding MSI Afterburner (google it) I've been using it for years; set up your own fan profiles in setttings tab. I had a 4870 and it was a space heater.
If the map/inventory screen pauses the game then it's likely the gpu is switching to 2D mode which automatically lowers the fan speed as the gpu isn't being used much. Be careful you don't set the speed too low if you do go manual, if it overheats it will probably force a hard reset of your system.

Yeah, I can set the speed manually in the CCC, I think I will go 75%.
