Can't even install the game. Then I look around and all these people have so many more problems that I have to look forward to as well.

What a waste of time and energy.....
Sounds like a download corruption. I'm pretty sure when you install it it checks the integrity of the files first. Is this when it fails?

We need more information to help you :)

Off-topic:
BTW seems pretty smooth to me. Most of the issues are lack of knowledge regarding GOG.com downloader and where it puts things. Then we've got some ATI issues and everyone complaining about not being able to run the game in ultra settings on their 3 yr old graphics card.
This is from the hard copy of the game that I bought. I didnt download anything, and I cant get the installation process to even barely start.
Hm.... well then I would suspect this is a problem with your DVD drive and it's ability to read a dual layer DVD.

Do you have another PC OR another DVD drive that you can check this with i.e. stick the disk in another PC to confirm it's not a faulty disk?

Another option would be to copy the entire content of the disk to your HDD e.g. just shove it into a folder on your desktop, and then run the installation from there. Should work.

Copying to the hard drive doesnt work either, ITS NOT MY computer that is the problem. A lot of other people have had this exact same problem with installation. Same shit every time.....

Feature Transfer error

Component: Data

File: E:/data2.cabFeature Transfer error

And no, i dont have 20 different computers lying around that i can just try and install it with.

Read my post again please. I said it's a problem with your DVD drive and / or the disk could be dirty.

Easiest way to check if it's the DVD drive (if you don't have 20 PCs lying around) is to just copy + paste the dvd contents to your HDD and then install from there.

I'm having the same problem, and copying and installing from the hard drive wont work either. Also won't work on my other computer, and my friend is having the same problem as well so I'm guessing it's not my disk drive. Not sure what to do about this

I just fucking said that copying from the disk to the HDD DOES NOT WORK.
Well do you get a new error? Why doesn't it work?

Help me to help you.

Many people are having this problem but noone is explaining it enough
I am having the same problem as well as these people but I think i'll be able to explain

After it starts installing, when it gets to install the Data2 file from the DVD disc it stops installing, the driver makes stuttering noises and then a CRC error box comes up saying feature transfer error Data File: E/data2.cab
Its the same kind of transfer error, I'm at work now so I cant check the exact error but its pretty much the same thing.
My next thought would be that's it's probably some issue with whatever copy protection they've put on the retail disc that is causing this... [Side note: yah for gog.com]

What other things have you guys tried?

E.g.
-installing with virus scanners off?
-installing with any imaging software off?

(I'm just throwing things out there here, so feel free to discount these).

Maybe what would help is if you guys added in what Operating system and DVD drive you had?
Trying to copy to the hard drive gives me the message
Can't read from the source file or disk.
data2
Don't know why I bothered asking here, just another fucking waste of time.

I'm also getting
Feature: required files
Component: Data
File: D:\data2.cab
Error: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)

The official site says to try and copy/paste to hd, but data2.cab wont!
And yes my DVDROM reads dual layer.
Any help would be appreciated
