i had to reload an older save and kill newboy to get the amulet, also if you finish the poker quest before getiing the troll head it will bug it and you can't get it, which is a bummer because you get a nice armor scematic from the troll when you return his wifes head.

fishboy11: ok the game guide says that you get melitele's heart regardless of wether you tell newboy to wear his armor or not, i told him to wear it and now i am in lobiden where i am supposed to be able to unlock the amulets powers but apearentely i don't have it, i talked to newboy after i escaped the dungeon and did everything i was supposed to, and the quest entry doesn't say wether i have it or not either, anezka in lobidan doesn't give me any other option other than shop or play dice and she is supposed to give me the quest to fix the damn amulet, i'm a little bit pissed about this since i double checked the game guide to make sure i was going to get this item but i guess not.
Anyone know what's up here? Following the guide, I assumed I had the amulet. Now I'm a good chunk into Act 1, and I realize I don't.... Any solution, or am I just boned?

I don't read guides, but I can tell you that the amulet is a standard inventory item, so if you can't find it, and you finished prologue, you're boned :> you have to tell those guys that the amulet is cursed and dangerous, they then give it to you so you can un-curse it.

btw. I had a horrid experience with this quest. the last battle is just so damn hard (or maybe I was a noob in fights at that time - will see on second playthrough) hardest fight I encountered ever. keyran is weak comparing to this.

PS. I play on hard. maybe it's nothing in lower difficulty levels.

Re-spawning three on one wraiths and multiple directions you have to cover definitely make this fight tough without a bit of preparation. With the right tactics it's a breeze though. Come equipped with a fair number of traps, some Red Haze bombs, and Specter Oil and the whole thing is suddenly a lot more manageable.

Lay your traps out in a ring surrounding the area where the witch is working for some easy early damage, then stay on the move to draw the wraiths into a tight group. When they get close enough to one another toss a Red Haze in the middle and you will -usually- cause two of the wraiths to go berzerk and attack the third, flipping the odds from 3 to 1 against you to 3 to 1 in your favor. Once that happens I'd just stay out of it and let them tear one another up, there's no point in getting in close and accidentally breaking the effect by hitting one of the wraiths on your side. If you get a bit unlucky and your Red Haze only affects one wraith, you can either fight whichever wraith comes after you one on one or use Axii to forcefully convert it to your side. If you choose to fight it I'd suggest having Quen up. Wraiths do absolutely brutal damage from the rear, and you don't want to get 3/4 of your vitality knocked off just because you were too distracted to notice a wraith respawning somewhere off screen.

I must admit that I've never used Axii. I thought that it's useless, but to think of it again, you may be right in that tactic. I've also never used red haze :) you are absolutely right about their brutal damage. in second act wraiths were no longer match for me, as I reached 50 armor, but early in the game it's just terrifying to fight them. even fully buffed by potions and specter oil.

I've used Axii a lot. Probably more than any other sign. Even though it takes some time to fire, it's pretty damned useful, IMO.

Agreed. It requires some planning to use, but if you really think about it, it's the most efficient sign in terms of crowd control. (1 vigor to disable two foes and deal some damage to both.)

I think the only reason I don't use it in every fight is because of how well traps and bombs can fill the same role without the vigor cost or charge time.

I kept newboy's talisman, now Anezka just won't talk to me about it.... I don't have a dialogue option for it

I've had this problem too. I think there's a mod available (listed in the sticky post) that will put the medallion in Anezka's shop. I'm getting ready to try it since I'll still in Act 1 on my 2nd playthrough.
