marklaur: How do I tell what version I will be getting.

TheEnigmaticT: The region that your account is set to when you purchase the game is the region that the offer comes from, regardless of where the preorder was made from.
Thanks for the reply,

Just paid and have a nice new box on the book shelf beside the original Witcher.

I noticed that if I follow the link from the email telling me the pre order is live I see a page with the cost in pound that changed to USD on the purchase screen. If I log into GoG directly I only see the page in USD.

This may clear it up for anyone else in my position expecting to see the price in pounds while on vacation from Australia.

Regards MarkL
Everyone is paying in dollar equivalents to their local currency's price. Because otherwise the bajillion people who picked up TW1 and TW2 together would be paying part in pounds or euros and part in dollars. It would be a billing nightmare.
ok i went to my gog downloader to check what version i have, i downloaded from US region but my downloader doesnt say anything about the version, so does that mean i have original uncensored version?

Based on what happened to me you should get the USA version.

But like you there is no indication with the files downloaded. I feel confident that if you went on vacation first you will be OK. That's why I picked England to see the local price in pound before the switch to US on the payment page. If you picked US first you would not have received the initial clue you were getting another version like I did.

Australian / NZ version has (AU) suffix in downloader. Without it, you get the same version as everyone else.
No AU suffix for me. Looks like I'm good.

nudge1983: The censored bit is only 1 instance of receiving sex as a quest reward right? You guys need to get out more.
That really isn't the point.

The point is that, despite our governments protests otherwise, the majority of gamers are adults here in Australia and we should have the right to choose for ourselves what we wish to view and what we do not.

This argument's been argued to death a hundred times over on a hundred Australian websites, there's really no need to rehash it. The impetus is there for a change - the Australian Federal Minister for Home Affairs has pretty much said the polite political equivalent of 'agree to an R rating at the next Attorney Generals meeting (in July) or we'll bypass the states and create one anyway'.

From what I can tell our friends in Australia will not only be receiving a censored version of the game, but due to questionable distributor policies down there they're also paying significantly more. Now GOG is doing everything they can to alleviate this by offering the difference as credit, but I'm guessing for many it's likely a principled stance against both the rating bored and distributors down there (and hopefully they'll get the message one day).
I surely do hope that an official patch sneaks in to get rid of the censorship, as with the original Witcher.

And also, the ratings board thinking that sex as a reward is somehow offensive, or beyond reason is ridiculous. It's how adult relationships work. You piss off your girlfriend/wife/whatever, you spend a few lonely and sexually frustrated nights whining.

Really should have checked this thread before paying.
Aussies can't really complain about TW2. You guys already missed a great game, Risen, which was never released there because the devs (Piranha Bytes) did not accept to change anything in the game.

TW 1 got released despite the fistech (which does not exist RL with that name) and Risen was banned because of Swampweed! (which I don't recall existing as well but the char gained some xp when smoking it)

I think that the people in the Office responsible for that have snored a lot of Fistech and smoked a lot of Swampweed (did LotR got censored there as well because of the pipeweed?) because, in the end, allowing characters in a video game to chop some heads off and then censoring their private habits or sexual life is hypocrisy at its most sarcastic level!

Well, at least they didn't censored the chopping off heads, right?

OMG I'M SO F)(*&@)(*!@_* ANNOYED.

I thought this game got through fine. Clicked on my pre-order email and bam clicked purchase and started downloading, then saw the (AU) next to it and freaked and then starting googling to see what was cut and now I'm pissed off.

I hate my damn stupid evil lame pathetic country and our excuse after excuse after excuse attorney generals and by the time they decide to hold a meeting to make a decision half of them are dead and being replace or have changed their minds or want to do something else crazy or there's been another 3 state elections. Face it we'll never get an R-rating even though every single logical argument points to it being the right way forward.

Importing is the only way. What a pathetic government.

Now I assume I am screwed?

*waits patiently for fan patch*.

The only difference between AU and worldwide version is one minor quest reward removed. Nothing more.

Mhmmm.. I know... it's the principle of it. I'm obviously still going to play TW2 and love it, just annoyed I didn't realise before I clicked buy and could have gone on a holiday or whatever.

Sure, that's understandable. Have faith in the community, I'm quite certain the issue will be unofficially resolved very quickly. ;)
