I know there is already a conversation about this topic, and if I wanted to discuss it I would post in it, but I don't want to: everyone is free to their own opinion.

my personal opinion is that I find the card collecting tasteless and the only caveat in the entire game, it's completely pointless from a game play perspective ...

If it were possible I would like to simply take the card collecting element out of the game (it does have a game editor after all) but I have a funny feeling that is too much to ask for, so instead I simply want to know if there is a way to replace the current cards with the "cleaned up" versions for the censored version.

for the record I actually like the "get her to sleep with you" mini-games, it brings a level of maturity (and I do mean "mature," not "hee hee, boobies" style of mature) to the game that is lacking in all the other RPGs out there. when the most every offering has got a main character that is either (A) a teenager filled with sexual angst (B) celibate like a monk or (C) Abstinent until marriage, it's like a breath of fresh air to have a main that is willing to partake of the fairer sex and really fleshes out the game world.

now if only I could follow through with that part of the story without feeling like a creepy old guy who sits in the back of a strip club drinking Lemon-aid each time one of those cards pops up.

so back to the point, if I can't cut out the card parts while retaining the elements that lead up to said cards: can I at least swap in the "clean" versions of the cards that don't feature topless artwork?

I'm married ... if I wanted to look at a pair of tits I'd ask my wife to take off her top, not spend a half hour tracking down pretty baubles in a video game.

I guess you could 'censor' the game back following the instructions given here. I didn't test that myself, though.
You can skip almost all cards if not all of them , just dont give the gifts to the ladies and choose no as an answer , you won't loose experience or anything.
... you ONLY get a naughty card if you have sex with a girl.
Don't want cards? don't have sex with them. There is absolutely no in game benefit / requirement to having sex.

The thing is he enjoys the sex, but doesn't want to see the boobies. Now that's a funny combination =D
I know it's hard because they're front and center, but concentrating on the boobies just falsifies the purpose of the cards.

Each card has something to say about the character of the woman Geralt received it from, or at least about the time and place of their tryst.

The actual message of the card, not the boobies you're getting hung up on, is intentionally part of the game. Sometimes it's as subtle as a broken string of pearls.

Wow, you're a wise man, you wife must really proud about you. I respect that, but in the game you just can simply say no for the most of the sex scene, they always give you multiple choices before any sex scene. It's not compulsory.

But i didn't read the novel, maybe they try to retain the originality like the main character personality?
Personally I think the cards are quite nicely drawn. I wouldn't say the nudity is shoehorned in.

As has been posted above, you can censor the cards if you wish.

which is still present whether or not the "lady" in question has got her cleavage hanging out.

as I said: I'd prefer it if we could somehow still have the side quests but not the card collecting, I know thats not going to happen so I'll settle for not having to deal with the explicit nudity.
BTW, that "fix" works ... I think, not sure if all it updates is the cards or if it relates to the actual scenes that give you the cards because I haven't the time to track down another one of them to test it.

the download link for the files themselves really sucks ass, I'll see about repackaging them as a single 7zip and tossing them up on mega-upload or setting up a torrent.

I couldn't get it too work with the Steam version... so is the OP yakking about the GOG version so I should download that one??

Never too many boobies ;) ...their all so different!! I NEVER would say see one, seen them all!! I'm an equal opportunity leech!!
click on the link, then read the instructions. doing this with the steam version takes more work than the non steam version because steam sucks and is an abomination.

if your runing with the non steam version (i.e. the gog version) then all you have to do is swap in the new files, with steam you have to make an "override" directory and then plop in the new files to that ... or something, I don't really know and I don't care to know.

spending $5 for this version and not having to figure out how to dick with steam is probably the most cost effective option.

*edit*

well, never mind.

all that those files change is the artwork in the cards that pops up when you click in the heart icon in the characters section, when you actually get the cards it seems like the card that pops up is actually hard coded into the related cut scene because it's still the topless version despite the card art being physically replaced.

The files probably change only .dds files - card 'textures'.
Cutscenes are actually cs_sex_#.bik files, found in TW/Data folder. You'd have to find all 24 files from censored version somewhere.

EDIT: I checked the files and the archives contain all .bik files. Did you extracted them directly to TW/Data folder and overwritten the old ones?

Why is a naked human body "tasteless" but slicing up people with a huge sword so that blood gushes out and stains the grass apparently "tasteful"? Oh America, never change!

It wasn't just the Americans that had a problem with the cards, it was mentioned in most reviews as being out of place.
