Pangaea666: I've turned off the whole Universal Annoyance Central. Nothing I did would genuine reduce the level of popups for everything I did, so it was the only choice. Microsoft have somehow managed to make an OS with annoying popups every time you want to run anything, while also lowering security. It's quite a feat, it really is.
Having said that, I much prefer to have a proper firewall and anti-virus program running in the background, and their idiotic UAC off.
Had there been a way to turn it off permanently for any given program, it might actually have been useful. But no.
I wouldn't turn it off if I were you. I find this to be the one of the most useful things Microsoft added to Windows. Using an Admin account was the #1 reason of XP computers being infected with malware. This keeps user rights to a minimum unless specifically needed.
I, too, wonder why The Witched would need elevated rights, though.
Edit:
Looked around a bit and apparently it doesn't really need any special rights.
1. Go to the shortcut or executable you use to run The Witcher
2. Right click and select Properties
3. Go to Compatibility and uncheck Run As Administrator
The UAC prompt should not appear anymore.
I've had no problems running it this way.
