Hi,
anyone with a fix or the same issue ?

Ive tried the widescreen fix but the game wont launch at all with this installed.

(Ties that Bind works with widescreen fix but only if I launch executable manually - it crashes on start up if I launch from galaxy)

cheers

I'm experiencing the same issue. Oddly enough, the game ran just fine before I installed Ties That Bind, but now that I have both installed I'm having this texture/models issue... I can't even see Torque, just his shadow on the floor, even if he shows up (transparent) in the opening cutscene...

Always submit screenshots when reporting texture issues.
and post system specs too!
System specs - Win 10 pro fully updated / 980 ti / asus maximus 5 gaming MB / 32 gigs ram.

All drivers up to date.

I dont have time to post screen shots.

Look at a normal screen shot. Then imagine it without the character models and missing floors / walls - thats what it looks like on my pc.

This is because installing Ties that Bind uses the updated RiotEngine. Some registry entries are mixed up and so the original "The Suffering" doesn´t run anymore. I had this problem myself with Windows 8 and 10. When I installed Windows7 I could have both games installed and both run well. Otherwise you have to uninstall both games re-install "The Suffering" again.

Hope this helps
I have installed both games, too and TS1 runs well and I don't have this weird texture issue or frequent crashes (only 1).
Later on is a bug where the floor is partially missing. That bug is old and not severe.

Windows 10, 64 bit, GTX 760, I5-4570, 8 GB RAM.

Will give that a try and update

Nope, just the same. I even manually removed all leftover 'Suffering' entries in the reg after uninstalling.

Thanks for the advice tho

I figured as much, but thanks for the explanation, anyway.

I did try doing as you suggested, but even after uninstalling both games and installing only The Suffering, it's still broken. Granted, I didn't clean the registry and didn't reboot, that probably would have helped. Oh, well, I guess I'll play Ties That Bind, for now, and will try fixing this later...
I just found this in PC Gaming wiki

"Glitchy enemies and NPCs AI
With a frame rate higher than 60, there are many problems with the AI of both monster and human characters. The game is possibly un-finishable due to the risk of certain NPCs not triggering key cutscenes."

Maybe that helps with the texture errors.

Yep, this is an issue that's been plaguing the game ever since the sequel came out. As stated above, it has something to do with both versions of the engine not being able to play along together. Because of reasons.

BUT! There is hope! I actually found a solution that worked for me:

1) Run The Suffering. Play for a bit, then exit.

2) Run Ties That Bind. Play for a bit, then exit.

At this point, The Suffering should be having the missing textures issue

3) Run REGEDIT

4) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Wow6432Node > Surreal > Riot Engine

5) Delete "SettingsDX105"

6) If you attempt to run The Suffering now you'll get an error, so you'll want to run suffering.exe with the -setup modifier

You'll have to configure the graphics in the launcher again as you did the first time, but both games should run OK now. God knows why. I just tried this in the GOG versions, I went back and forth between both games several times, and they're running without any issue.

I'm on Windows 10 Pro with all the latest patches.

Glad to see this works for someone - I tried this yesterday with no joy.

(I only have The Suffering installed at the moment and the problem persists, and thats after cleaning the registry)

Ive asked for a refund, wasted too much of my life trying to get this game to work.

EDIT

Incredible , 30 seconds after previous post and I gave it 1 last try.

Launch in Windows 95 compatibility mode WITH the widescreen fix (and run as admin)

And it worked !

First time I've seen the character model in the opening cut scene lol

Anyone with this problem, give it a try.

EDIT

OK, the widescreen fix has nothing to do with it. I could not get it to launch again - no error message, just craps out.
I removed the widescreen fix and the game launches - models are still there.

Aaaand I've just removed the Win 95 compatibility... and the models are still there.

So god knows what fixed it for me

(And just to clarify, the game will not launch in ANY fashion with the widescreen mod)

Setting it to Windows 95 compatibility and Always Run As Administrator worked for me (after deleting SettingsDX105). I did have a crash at the end of the cutscene and had to terminate the game using the Task Manager, but at least part of the problem is solved. I'm on Windows 10 Home 64 bits, if it helps anyone experiencing the same issues.

Now, onto finding a fix for the crashes :P
Well, that's strange. I bought and installed both games. I could play both games but had the freeze problem with the first game, that could be solved by updating the nvidia driver. After that I finished both games without any problems.

Now I wanted to replay both games to get another ending but suddenly had the missing models & textures in the first game, even though I could play it before. Uninstalling both games, deleting all Suffering registry entries and reinstalling only the first game didn't help.

Have you set your monitors refresh rate to 60 FPS?

That is highly recommended, see above posts.

I played both games. First TS then TTB. I ended the first game with a single crash in the prison level and missing textures in the courtyard level.
I finished TBB without a single crash or other problems.
After that I tried TS again and played it a few minutes without any issues, then I decided to quit the game because I have others. ;)

This missing texture issue is really irritating and I remember having it in the past. I fixed it somehow.
