Hi all,

We've added the public demo of Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure to your accounts. This demo supersedes the backer beta and is now available to all pre-purchasers.

Since this is a public demo and we don't have the resources as of right now to host a demo that can be accessed by all, please feel free to share the public demo as much as you like :)

Thanks and have a nice day :)

So would it be legal to make a torrent of the Beta and seed it?

Since it's a demo, yes, go for it :)

I am referring to the public demo we uploaded today :)

Ducky. As a Tesla Effect backer who tossed more than she should have into Tesla Effects' pot and intends to get the game on GOG since she will not touch Steam with a bargepole, I don't have access to the demo. Those who pre-order can play it, this backer can't. Not that it's any big deal in the long run but it (along with another highly anticipated game I backed) has certainly soured me on believing anything a Kickstarter developer says about "DRM-free". I'm with the member of GOG's forums (I wish I could remember who) who called Steam a "walled garden of DRM". Bah!
I've got the demo, but the videos doesn't work properly (green screen) and the game sometimes display graphical glitches. If the system requirements of the demo are the same as for the full game, then I'll need to buy a better graphics card. The requirements say GeForce 200 or better, I have GeForce 7950 GT. More memory will be good too (it says 4GB RAM, I have 2).

Here is the Tesla Effect demo on uploaded.net:
http://filecloud.io/download.html
It's a bit slow, but it's an alternative to Steam nonetheless.

Thx, but what is this unique URL I have to type in to download the file?

If you have both onboard and external graphics (Nvidia + Intel) you need to ensure the game is running from the Nvidia card.
Also, please try updating DirecX9 (as it may not be present on your system, it will not remove newer versions of DirectX)

Sorry, it worked earlier. But here is another one: http://dl.free.fr/getfile.pl?file=/s7smdOha
Hope this one works.

I don't have any onboard graphics (only Nvidia). Drivers 307.83 (newer are not available for my card). Speaking of DX9, the newest one is 9.0c, and I think it's installed already, but how to check it out?

Nope, I got CRC error on exe file and some other error reports while installing. Will try to download the file once more tomorrow.

EDIT: Downloaded it again and got the same error. Has to be some issue while packing or uploading file.

I tried to play but as soon as I launched the demo, all I saw was the mouse cursor and black screen. Has to open task manager to end process and the it shows a small window say it crashed.

Wheni installed it, a third of the way I got some integrity check say some missing files and gave me an option to ignore. I am guess that is the problem? I didn't download it from GOG but from someone who uploaded the file on another host site.

Does that mean it is corrupted or my Sager NP8130 laptop is not compatible?

Thanks for that, FrasierWCrane, whether it worked or not. It was nice of you. +1
