Here are my two screengrabs. One with crammed NPC/warehouse basic building (my FPS drop like flies in there) and another one is a building I made for... well... just for the sake of building it.

Amazing!

tinyE: BTW I still can't get Greenshot to work. There are no instructions here.
Never figured that one out either. I use FRAPS for screenshots now, it does exactly what I want it to do. Just... make pictures, put pictures in designated folder.

WingedKagouti: A tree house. Do note the minimap here.
That's amazing! Also:

I like your tower.

I... think I'm going to live in this thread now.

I'd be so doomed if I had to find these things out on my own. Thanks for that!
Here's my base, as best as I can get it given GOG's file size limit. There's a main "castle" with a barrack, ballroom (filled with chests, heh), armoury, dining room/kitchen, infirmary, therapist (i.e., the Guide), library, and royal tinkerer, mechanic, and wizard. The big empty box at the top was going to be a throne room, but I never finished it. I haven't decided what to do with the right tower yet. Please note that this is from a really old world, pre-1.1 (before Hard Mode was added; everything that's in the Armoury was all that was in the game when I built it). They changed many of the background wall graphics since it was built, so some of the rooms look terrible now (especially my room, the crafting room, and the goblin's room). Heck, the dungeon blocks changed too, and I think those look bad as the walls now too (originally changed to them because the jesters could destroy other block types during blood moons).

Below the castle is the storage basement, with my spawning room, a crafting room, farms, and an obsidian generator. To the lower right is the top of my unfinished Hellevator (I planned to line the whole thing with demonite bricks (pretty glow!) and give it a background wall to keep monsters out). I left some room to extend the storage, but haven't done that yet. Honestly, with the way I sort things, and with how much has been added to the game, I don't think there's enough room anyway. I'll probably have to just build a whole new storage building. The glowing mushroom farm is so big because I play a mage and needed them to make mana potions. Now I have the Wizard, so I just buy better ones from him.

To the right of the castle is an apartment building, another guard tower, and a tree for the Dryad. Again, built a long time ago, so there were no living trees or leaf placing wands and you had to be a bit more creative. The tree is shaped to be similar to the style of the Terraria trees, rather than realistic. It's hard to tell even in game, but I built roots for it as well and put blinkroot down there to light them up, but... yeah, it's really hard to see. It doesn't help that the wood and dirt are so close in color.

There's a home for the Truffle and the Witch Doctor to the left of the castle, but I forgot to take pics of them.

And, just for the hell of it, a picture of my map showing the Hellevator and the layout of the town a bit better. The bit between the castle and apartment building is my boss/invasion fighting platform. The stretch to the right of the tree (and where the tree was placed) is my tree farm, and was were I fought the first boss (the torches do double duty: helping me space out my acorns, and seeing the boss when it goes underground).

I really like that other building that's just for the sake of it. It has the kind of creativity and use of materials that I couldn't even dream of.

Nesoo: ...
That's... huge. I don't even.
So many things! Did you really put signs on all the chests? :D
I like how... organized it all seems, the different background walls (personally I can't be bothered with that and I've never built anything even half the size of your entire construction) and ALL THE MANNEQUINS. Nice tree, too!

(The pieced-together screenshots make for a nice game of "Spot the player character".)

Nesoo: therapist (i.e., the Guide)
Yeah... I stopped trusting him when I realized the guy can't tell the difference between dirt (safe to walk on!) and lava pits (not safe to walk on!).

Nesoo: snip
Wow.... that must take lots of time. :)

Yup! See the attached pic.

That's how I roll. A place for everything, and everything in its place. Honestly, half the time I spend playing the game is probably spent just on sorting everything out, hehe. It's a bit disorganized now though, as you can probably tell from all the chests scattered in the left guard tower and ball room. Damn updates adding new things! Grr! ;-)

I really need to sit down and plot out another basement to organize everything.

I could condense, too. At the time the storage rooms were created, items only stacked to 250 (or less) and chests had half as many slots as they do now. I went from a chest or three of dirt to using maybe 1-2 rows in a chest for dirt after the changes. So, I could probably do stone and dirt in a chest, sand, clay, silt, and mud in a chest, etc., instead of separate chests for each.

I'll probably cry when 1.3 comes out and I have to figure out even more storage ;-)

Actually, I'll probably just abandon this world and rebuild on a new one with new features. Though, that was my plan with 1.2, and, well, you can see how that went.

Crackpot.756: Nice tree, too!
Thanks! I've been meaning to tear it down and replace it with the new items that were added to make it look more like an actual tree, and to thicken up the trunk walls a bit.

BillyMaysFan59: Wow.... that must take lots of time. :)
Eh, probably not as much as you think. Aside from the window patterns and checkerboard walls in a couple of the rooms, and the tree, everything else is basically just a box and is really just a matter of holding down the left mouse button and moving it around. Farming the demonite for the basement walls and collecting the cobalt for the background in the mushroom farm, on the other hand... that took some time (and in the case of the mushroom farm, was pretty much a waste... since the lighting is blue anyway, you can't really tell that it's cobalt and not stone or silver, aside from the pattern).

You do lack an area to farm Shiverthorn.

Living Wood and Leaf Wands would help make the tree look better.
Some of you guys build really big structures.

Here's something new from me. Some sort of snow/ice bunker and a tower crane. I could really use some mod for screenshots of objects bigger than a screen...

Yeah. Somehow, I only just found it in the last few days. I made a new world to explore when 1.2 was released (I wanted to find pyramids and snow and crimson biomes) and I farm in it semi-frequently trying to get the snow and crimson biome key molds (and other biome specific drops), so I don't know how I've never collected it before.

Shiverthorn has a low chance to spawn and it takes a while before they grow to full.
