So just updated to Win 10 and this game doesn't seem to load up, goes straight to not responding and the mouse can't be moved out task bar. Anyone have any fixes?
The game won't run in fullscreen for me in Windows 10--it just crashes immediately. I can get it to run in -window mode, but that leaves it running in a tiny (800x600) fixed-size window in the middle of my 1920x1080 display.

Prior to this, in Windows 8.1, I was able to just start the game from the shortcut and my rig would just negotiate the appropriate resolution between all parties by itself. Now, after the Windows 10 and accompanying Nvidia update, nothing seems to get it to work. I've tried the .cfg file modifications recommended for widescreen gaming and that has had no effect so far.

Any suggestions?
You can specify different windowed resolutions by using the switch -geometry wwwwxhhhh
e.g.
-window - geometry 1500x800

IIRC the highest supported resolution is 1650x1050 or something like that.
it does cause some glitchiness in the UI display, up to you if you can live with it.

I'm having this problem too. Using Co8 new content mod. Seems to be switching resolutions when I start it but then it crashes.

Sorry Cattletech, I am not sure how to apply the fix you posted

You need to create a shortcut to the exe file. Right click this shortcut icon and in the target field add these switches after the quote mark in the end.
Thanks,

still an annoying problem to have to play in windowed mode. I am trying to register on the co8 forums to pester them about it

There's a decent chance that TemplePlus would solve that crash, since it made the upgrade to DX9 and renders full-screen differently. If you can help me confirm (or disprove) that, I will try to put out a stable intermediate branch to help win10 users get their fix ;)

It works beautifully (1600x900 full screen) until I load up a save game and press escape (to get to the save/load/exit menu), then it crashes

Alright, that sounds like something that can be fixed! Great to hear that it solves the win10 problem.

Can you post the log file? It is templeplus.log in your game folder. (I need the log from after you run the game where it crashes as you explained, so make sure you don't boot up the game and exit normally because it'll overwrite it).

You can use a file sharing service like wikisend or tinyupload to post it.

As I suspected it's the screenshot taking function. We'll look into it!

I'd also like to ask a few questions:

1. Where is ToEE installed? Is it the program files folder?
2. Does this crash happen when you run templeplus.exe as Administrator?
3. What is your graphics card?

Edit: just to verify there aren't other issues, I'm posting a build with screenshots disabled. Let me know if it solves the crash:

Temple+ build 277

1. C:\GOG Games\Temple of Elemental Evil

2. Yes, it still crashed when I ran as administrator

3. It's laptop onboard graphics, just says Intel HD Graphics Family

AND

That build you posted did solve the crash :)

thanks
Still crashes rather frequently otherwise though.

If you can make a build that is just the graphics fix, I would really appreciate it

It's possible, but I'm really not sure it'd solve your crashes. I'm willing to try and diagnose whatever is causing issues but it'd require your involvement.
I will try to be as involved as I can. I wasn't sure it would be helpful since I'm using an older build. Would you rather I post here or on rpgcodex?
