Just saw that on steam the version is 0.5a while on GOG the indicated version is 0.21.

How does patching go on the gog is there a delay between patches between platforms ? and if yes what is the delay ?

Look more carefully at what I told you!

The download files are already patched. You do not need the patch. It was added after GOG used it themselves.

Only use the 5 files, the .exe and the four bin files.

After installing the game, start the game and note the 0.5a somewhere in the main screen or among the options.
steam is getting it all wrong, likely because they want to trick you into bying their version and installing SSTEAM in order to run their version likely at a larger price! ! !

All the above in my reply is true because I bought it at 29.99 the first day announced in an email from GOG.

My ingame version only says 0.5, not 0.5a, GOG Galaxy says 0.21. When I manually download the patch and run it, it says it's already applied.
The 0.5a patch notes on Steam mentioned fixes for missing map prompts and raising the base carry limit to 150, both of which aren't in my version, so I'm pretty sure it actually is 0.5 that I'm running.
Am I missing something? 0.5 is pretty much unplayable for me, I get CTDs every few minutes.

Well, today's (0.24) update seems to have fixed it, it's not 0.5b ingame.

GoG version recieved last update? I ask,cuz i would like buy this game on GOG.

The current GoG-Version is V 0.6 which is the newest available.

However, you will need a new save = new game, because the newest patch is just to huge. Nothing new for "in dev games"...
