I'm having exactly the same problem as above. I've uploaded my saves to sendspace.com/file/5vepv9. Unfortunately the earliest save is already in Rickenbacker pod 2, so it probably won't help finding the source. I would appreciate a fix though, if it isn't inconvenient. I would be very sad to have to drop the game so near the end. =(

Maybe this will be interesting: the save you fixed works fine. I have another save now though from only 5 minutes later, after taking one quick dive in the nasty water and researching the wormheart implant and wormskin armor. The problem shows up again in the second save (jumping in the water again causes instant death) but not in the first one. Maybe it'll help to isolate the problem. I've posted both saves to sendspace.com/file/szxvx0. Hope this helps.

Huh. It all makes sense to me now. At first I thought you were supposed to die in the water because of some environmental hazard or something but when I reached The Many things just didn't seem right. I was completely stuck. Now I know, at least.

I'll throw in a link to all my saves here. I know some of them are from The Many, but can't remember which specific ones. I hope anyone's willing to help me out, I'm not so good at this stuff.

Ack, sorry, it was Shield 6. I should've told you that, it just didn't come to mind at the time. I hope I haven't been too much trouble. :S

Voodoo47, it's very good of you to fix these saves for people.

I am running into the same problem dying in the water in the Mac version of SS2 from Gog (i have several mods installed [Rebirth, SHTUP, etc.], but it sounds like those aren't the cause of this problem). If anyone has the chance to fix this save, it would be much appreciated:
