I want to buy this game, but my friend told me the music was not working. From what I can remember. The music is one part I really liked so Im a bit cold about buying this.

Important thing to note is that we are both running Ubuntu 14.04lts. He syas the music dosent work but every other sound effect and the cinematics are fine. So the problem is ONLY the music from what I understand.

My friend dosent really care because he says he kinda prefer the game without it because the jolly techno music right after a spooky part blew the immersion for him. But for me it is an important part of the game so I really must know if something can be done before buying.

Have you seen this thread?

Music is discussed in that thread. Running the a softsynth from command line (or making your own script) is required. I can confirm music is available with timidity or fluidsynth (or, probably any software sequencer that can create ALSA ports for wine to connect to). Some distributions pack startup scripts for timidity and/or fluidsynth to run them as a daemon.

Sometimes there are issues with Wine SDL applications. So some users need to set SDL_AUDIODRIVER to directsound or winmm (also discussed on that thread).
