Yesterday I bought the Syberia series in the sale, out of nostalgia. It says it runs on a Mac. On my iMac (MacOs Big Sur) it starts, but doesn't go any further than de Microids splash screen.

Any clues?

I have the same problem with Mac Catalina. Have you found any solution?

No, I guess it is a 32 bit app they sold us. Which is strange because it DOES startup, but then it stalls. A 32-bit app souldnt startup at all...

I got an answer from the helpdesk:

Please check if the following makes the game work correctly:
Go to System preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Full Disk Access
and enable full disk access for the game.

I tried it, but still no positive outcome...

Update 7 januari: Syberia 3 now runs for some reason, 1 and 2 don't...

It runs for me on Catalina 10.15.7 (on an intel-based macbook).
I just installed the game after picking it up on the give away and I got this exact same error. The game launched and immediately froze on the company's logo with the music playing in the background. My Macbook was completely unresponsive and I had to reboot. This was on OS X 11.4.
same issue here MacOS Big Sur. CMD + Q stops the process at least so it is killable.

I have the same problem. Big Sur 11.4
I already tried to give permissions, but it still does not work
You can actually play Siberia 1 & 2 on Big Sur, and even Apple Silicon Macs, using The Porting Kit. It's technically the Windows versions but it works flawlessly. I believe the instructions are for the GOG versions so if you already own the games for the Mac on GOG you also get the Windows versions.

I would post a link but this forum is not letting me post links at the moment for some reason. Just Google "The Porting Kit” and you'll find it.

Enjoy!

So The Porting Kit is asking me to download the Windows version of Syberia from Gog. But I can't seem to do it. When I switch the version to windows, all i get is a hotfix. It also seems to only want me to download it for GOG Galaxy, not as a standalone?

Same here, can't run it on Monterey M1 - Porting Kit, CrossOver... Nothing works.
