The original poster in the Steam forum has responded, and the problem seems to have been fixed by that advice.

More detailed instructions, for future readers:

1) Start Nvidia settings and add game.exe to the 3D settings tool. (This is needed because the Inspector tool only judges based on the executable's name, and "game.exe" is used by many games. Adding it from Nvidia settings generates a profile using the full path.)
2) Download the inspector. As of now, the link is here: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/nvidia-profile-inspector-download.html
3) Start "nvidiaProfileInspector.exe".
4) From the "home" icon at the top, select the profile with the game's full path.
5) In the "Frame Rate Limiter" setting, select a value of about 60fps.
6) Click "Apply changes" at the top.

EDIT: I guess I can't mark my own post as the solution, or change the thread's title to say it's been solved. That's kind of a problem...

When playing Syberia 2, it seems that the longer pieces of dialogue (example: Oscar explaining how he has a phone in the beginning) are cut short. The voice stops and the game moves to the next piece of dialogue before everything is said.

I'm playing on Windows 10 64bit, with an Intel i5 and Nvidia GTX 960.

I found a similar thread on Steam forums, here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/46510/discussions/0/412446292776917045/

According to this limiting framerate by enabling Vsync should fix the issue, but the game itself doesn't have a vsync setting. I forced vsync through Nvidia settings but it still happens.

Does anyone else have the same problem?

Thanks :)
Something I noticed doing the fix:

zalbor: 2) Download the inspector. As of now, the link is here: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/nvidia-profile-inspector-download.html
3) Start "nvidiaProfileInspector.exe".
The site gives you currently 2 mirror-links to download from.
- Download Nvidia Profile Inspector - Mirror EU
and
- Download Nvidia Profile Inspector - Mirror (Author)

The first one (EU) does NOT include the Profile Inspector (only the Inspector).
The second one (Author) DOES include the Profile Inspector (and the Inspector).

Confused me, both mirrors should be the same...

Thanks, this has solved the issue for me, too. Current download link is https://nvidiaprofileinspector.com/download-nvidia-profile-inspector/#Download_Nvidia_profile_inspector_for_windows

The hardest part was to find the correct profile in the inspector's crowded download list - it's under "g" for Game.exe and there is no indication that it is actually referring to Syberia 2, but it was.

The Nvidia Control pane and the Nvidia Profiler did not work for me. However using the MIS Afterburner (RivaTuner Statstics Server) did. I do not use MSI products but this fixed it anyway.

Got this problem solved by installing the MSI Afterburner download.msi.com/ uti_exe/vga/ MSIAfterburnerSetup.zip (remove spaces) software, with the RivaTuner Statistics Server (optional and by default checked component of the Afterburner installer), created (Add) a profile with the game.exe from the Syberia 2 folder and set the 'Framerate limit' value to 60.

A few things here. The latest version of nVidia Profile Inspector can actually be found at github .com/ Orbmu2k/ nvidiaProfileInspector/ releases (remove the spaces to get the actual link; I can't post links here).

However, that solution did not work for me (RTX 2070 Super), no matter what settings I used. I found another thread which suggested using D3D8-wrapper, found at github .com/ ThirteenAG/ d3d8-wrapper/ releases (same procedure: remove the spaces), which did work and is honestly easier to use. All you have to is extract the two files (d3d8.dll and d3d8.ini) to the game's main folder, and edit the ini file to so the FPSLimit line says "FPSLimit = 60". After that, the game works perfectly.

I'm reposting this in this thread to give this solution more exposure, since it's the only thing that worked for me, was very easy to do, and didn't require installing anything.
@SvenGroot

Thx! Works for me - Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 TI / Driver Version 471.11

This worked for me and also stopped an error where Kate was moving super fast (which is a clue to the cause of the problem). Many thanks!

I'm so pleasure to find the exact solution for me. This is simple and useful. Thank you very much. :)
This does not work with driver 510 or newer, and there is a much simpler solution. In the pcgamingwiki I found a link to d3d8to9, just download it and it's fixed. I don't know why this is not part of the game download, i thought GOG patches old games, despite using the same engine than Syberia 1 this hasn't been fixed, and 1 runs without any issue on Windows 11.
