Silver83: Will the music tracks not looping be fixed in a future version?
Which tracks aren't looping for you? Haven't noticed such problems yet.
What do you do with the install folder? I copied it over, but there wasn't a folder in there for the 98 version. I copied it as instructed. The file in the install forlder says tie95, so I'm thinking it isn't used in the 98 version.

Any help would be appreciated.

TIE95.EXE is indeed used for the 98 Windows version. To install the Reconstructed mod, download and extract the contents of TieFighterReconstructedGOGEdition.zip to the root install folder, which is by default in C:\GOG Games\Star Wars - TIE Fighter (1998). That should replace the MUSIC and VOICE folders, as well as the TIE95.EXE file.

Got it! Thanks!
This mod is missing the Craft Entering Area music(Rebels, Pirates, Imperials) bits. It doesn't feel complete withour it, IMO.

The music system isn't adaptive like iMuse, it's a static loop of audio. Not having played the game myself yet, I don't know if the re-orchestrated battle music incorporates those leitmotifs. But even if it did, it wouldn't be able to play them when a new craft enters the battle as the DOS version does, so it wouldn't be much help to you. It's one of the compromises you have to make if you choose to play the Windows version.
Slight problem after installing this mod: In addition to the in-game UI cursor, the Windows cursor also gets drawn at an offset to the in-game cursor. There's no functional problem; it's just annoying. Any idea how to fix it?

PS. If I do Properties->Compatibility->Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution, then the in-game and Windows cursors overlap. It's less distracting but still ugly...

Is it still worth using this mod? Or should I just play the DOS cd version GoG now provides?

Sure it's worth using. I would, however, play the DOS Collector's Edition instead.
Dunno if it is given by some latest version of the game, but after copying the reconstructed music mod into my TF dir I am getting all the menu and concourse music, etc. - but the actual in-flight music is missing. Just sound effects :(

I am also getting this issue. Along with the cursor being offset.

Enable "Software Cursor" in the game's launcher.

That is legit the weirdest fix.

Edit: It didn't work.

What happens when you rename only the dll file back into winmm.dll? You should get an error message now.

infinityBCRT: I'm really surprised people are getting confused but I guess I should update the page to make this more clear. All you have to do to install is download the ZIP and install for the gog.com edition. The long winded instructions are for the original Windows CD (which you don't need to mess with!)

edit: Updated the guide now, there should be no confusion hopefully :)

Robbeasy: Hi,

Great mod, improves the game no end, but a little request...

Im trying to also get the 3d hardware re-integrated - theres a thread on here about it, and a fix provided that alters the exe to switch the 3d acceleration back on.

Only - it would appear the fixed exe for that and the fixed exe for this are incompatible..

I asked on that thread and got this reply

Any chance anyone who knows their stuff could look at a way of combining the two exes so I can have the music AND 3d-acceleration please? I wouldn't have a clue myself...
I'm having the same exact issue. I applied the 3D fix first, tried it and it worked great. Then I applied the music fix, and it sounded great too! However loading up a mission crashed the game again, just like the pre-3D fix problem.

I'd love to have both working at the same time, I hate to have to choose between the two.
