I have both GOG and Steam version of KOTOR II, but unlike steam version, GOG-version crashes after character creation.
Yeah I know, I have intel-HD video card, but steam version is working fine, while GOG crashes!

I remember this patch helping for the CD version:

I don't know if it was included in the Steam or not. But perhaps they forgot to include it here? Try it and let everyone know.

Sorry, but no, this fix hasn't helped, still crashes after character creation (my windows 8.1). I know a couple of people with intel cards who also were unable to play 4cd version, but had no problems with steam version.

Bummer, sounds like maybe they tried to do some improvements and made the game less stable :(

didn't helped.
Just installed steam-version, only added windowed mode, and everything works good, no crashes.
BTW, Big Thanks to you and your team for Restoration Project!
