until you fix Aspyr to actually function fully I see no logical reason to force the upgrade on us! If you are not going to revert the game back to the Lucas Arts release at least give us the option of downloading the legacy version! I see no reason to have the download aspyr and the download "update" aspyr anyway! as pictured below. why not give us the legacy and have the update for those who wish aspyr(if for whatever perverted reason) they wish it in update form! I see no reason to force a broken "remake' on us when the original was working just fine before May of this year!

** Additionally I point out, that the community patch is far superior to Aspyr! why in the neitherverse of hades not give us that instead!!!

*** I also critically point out) some computers cannot safely go online to download the "Galaxy" run version to downdate it! thus we need the downloadable legacy version!

My GOG support ticket is still open from June 30, 2022 regarding the availability of the pre-Aspyr version (as previously provided on GOG), so I am hopeful that GOG will look into this, if they aren't already in the process of that. Last I heard, GOG support is still stretched a little thin, so it may take time.

GOG Galaxy provides the same branch functionality as the Steam client. And it is straightforward to provide offline installer links on GOG.com for both the Aspyr build (version "1.0b update", GOG build 55484749745269737) and the original version (version "1.0b", GOG build 52315880824487880). There is no technical/infrastructure limitation on GOG's end.

Once again providing the original version as a download (in addition to Aspyr's version) might require the sign-off of Lucasfilm Games/Disney Interactive, or perhaps Aspyr/Saber Interactive/Embracer Group, but since Steam users are given the option to choose between Aspyr's version and the original version, I am hopeful this courtesy will be extended to GOG users as well.

If my memory is correct, you had previously mentioned in another thread that you had opened a GOG support ticket regarding this as well. Is your support ticket still open?

-----------------------------------
Edit: This has been resolved. Unfortunately, the offline installer for the original version will remain inaccessible, but the original version is accessible again via GOG Galaxy. Screenshot

I normally don't ask or expect GOG to provide previous builds (as is in, pretty much never), but this is a rare exception. This is similar to the situation with Nightdive Studio's Blade Runner - Enhanced Edition, as well as Beamdog's enhanced editions of Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II, Icewind Dale, Planescape Torment, and Neverwinter Nights, and the original versions (as previously provided on GOG) were retained in those cases, in addition to the updated versions.

GOG Galaxy (via GOG beta channels) provides the same branch functionality as the Steam client (via Steamworks beta branches). it is open.-at least I assume it is since GOG never sent me a confirmation email to access that ticket. just a blank page "this page has been disabled. I have had no email reply since that time. I did open a support ticket I just got no reply email to access it back in late june or early July(I think when I put it out)

sent a new request out just now, but again, no confirmation email. I tried a different department. the ticket is submitted but I am wondering if being understaffed as in probably COVID-19, they simply omitted it themselves automatically.
Update August 30
still no confirmation email to access the ticket!
*** and I quote "One of our agents will get back to you soon"*** PAH! I am being ignored! no confirmation email to even look at the ticket. no communication what so ever. I am thinking on maybe quitting out gog. downloading what is left of my games on hard copy and using Steam from now on for my business and future purchases will be on Steam instead...
I am not buying from GOG if they are so abusive as to altar my games without my permission! and on top of that ignore me outright with NO explanation!

I believe their beef is that the old version is not available (if you ignore all the typical internet raging). GOG was careful with VTMB to make the vanilla version available to all owners of that game.

unlike Bloodlines, this is "aspyr" shit is a broken down excuse of a rehash! NOT the community patch once found on ModDB that should have been the option here!-if not the original Legacy! If you want to waste your money on this aspyr knock-off bug fest made by an amature that is your problem. but I warn you, if you actually play it, you will be disappointed! the game is not going to be fixed. the original KoToR 2 works fine on my PC! (aka my old DVD copy!) Aspr has plot stopping bugs. I hope you were properly persuaded. :P

I just played it (admittedly, with TSLRCM dumped on top). I was not disappointed. I can't figure out what you guys are going on about.

Trisstan23: out dated not really working
How so? If the Aspyr version is the version that works best for you, that's genuinely great; I prefer the original in this case. The current version isn't a new point release by Obsidian, it is a release patched by a third party (Aspyr), and I have encountered more negatives than positives with Aspyr's changes. This is more comparable to Beamdog's editions of Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II, Icewind Dale, Planescape Torment, and Neverwinter Nights than a typical game update.

As widescreen was already achievable with the original via UniWS and visual mods (for UI adjustments), Aspyr's version really doesn't bring anything new to the table for me. Widescreen via UniWS and UI mods actually works better for me than the out-the-box Aspyr widescreen support (for example, I have found changing party member behavior, such as to ranged or Jedi support, and lightsaber forms via the action menu in the Aspyr version to be finicky at times). While I can work around this (via UI mod), the Aspyr version has not actually improved the quality of the experience for me over what I was already able to achieve, and it has introduced some new bugs, as well as removed EAX support (which happens to be a feature I value).

alcaray: I can't figure out
I listed a few of the issues here (only the few I know workarounds for):
https://www.gog.com/forum/star_wars_knights_of_the_old_republic_series/patch_10b_just_landed/post9

I would simply like the option to retain access to the original version, as Steam users have (to be clear, I am not seeking the removal of Aspyr's version, but for both the Aspyr version and the original version to be made available for download, as they are on Steam). As I mentioned in my response to Trisstan23, this wasn't a typical game update. I don't necessarily expect that GOG will be accommodating, but there is no harm in asking in a respectful and cordial tone (which I believe I have maintained), or in conferring with any users in the forum who prefer the original. De gustibus non est disputandum.

PS A lot can be inadvertently lost in translation in online communication. If you feel I have at some point engaged in "typical internet raging" on this issue, that was not my intent.

what Cantiras said and also the fact that the original version was available for download before GOG "updated" it to Aspyr. I see no reason why they couldn't simply have left the link to download the original version which was the version that was there since the date I purchased it. They didn't give us the option to use Aspyr they simply removed the original link and replaced it(without purchaser's consent). fact of the matter is, it is simply and truly unethical!
And Galaxy doesn't allow you to install it and update it either. you can only "down"date it. which is not good because it can corrupt things in a newly installed game that was originally installed with "Aspyr" updates.

As I pointed out a couple posts ago, GOG provided the VTMB enthusiasts with an unpatched version after they started to use Wesp's patch as the official version. Has anyone asked GOG nicely to do this for KOTOR2?

I realize you were replying to neosapian, but since you asked if anyone has contacted GOG, as I mentioned in the second post of this thread, I have. neosapian replied in the third and fourth posts of this thread that he/̶s̶h̶e tried as well, but is uncertain if his/̶h̶e̶r requests went through.

As to the tone employed in my request, I am attaching a screenshot of my request to this post for review, with my email address redacted. The attached image has a resolution of 2560 × 2315. I am not spoiling for antagonism with any party, I am just hoping to retain access by some means on GOG to the original version of this Star Wars classic.

I see that you did. Ridiculously wordy an legalistic, but certainly checks the "asked nicely" button. I hope it was reviewed by someone who speaks English as a first language (and had adequate time to read it).

I did try to provide ample explanation. They're not American, so I don't think it being longer than 280 characters will be a barrier. And from what I've seen, their English is better than many native speakers'. ;)

actually I'm a "he" the issue with me is all the new bugs the old game worked fine. and now we have Aspyr, like painting a fine piece of expensive furniture pink and then not liking it and painting it purple and then not liking that and painting it pokedot why not just leave it wood grain! the NPC "no show" bugs are prevalent in Aspyr, not the original Legacy! I remember Ultima IX, you cannot fix a pink desk, paint it wood grain again! and if you try you get nowhere! Aspyr is amateurs and it is a mess!

yes I was tactful and direct I just want the game I originally purchased. not a mod that wasn't my permission to retool in my inventory. but my post is not accessible because GOG never sent me an email to open the "support' ticket.
how is this "not asking nicely?" do you even read these posts before replying?!
